I've heard bits and pieces about this article in Dragon magazine, and now I have finally gotten my hands on a copy of Dragon 277, the issue in which it appeared. The article makes references to "the Greyhawk 2000 campaign," which makes it seem like the whole setting has been defined (in that time period). However, the article is written as a series of suggestions, with only an example here and there of how those suggestions could be implemented. (For example, there's a map, but only showing the city and region of Greyhawk. And only a couple of gods are detailed.)

Is there more to "Greyhawk 2000," or was that it?

Also, if anyone here has played D20 Modern's Urban Arcana, is there stuff in there that could be used to fill in the gaps left in the "Greyhawk 2000" article?

A module in Dungeon issue #83 in which scientists "create" a new kind of Gibbering Mouther.

Here's a couple links to more info on GH2K:

From the Greyhawk-l list archive:

http://oracle.wizards.com/archives/greyhawk-l.html

Go to November 2000, week 1 & 2

From the Greytalk archive:

http://www.greycitadel.com/greycitadel/greytalk.nsf/SearchHelp?OpenForm

Just type Greyhawk 2000 into the search, can't seem to direct link to the results.

A hindering side effect of the WoTC forums upgrade, unfortunately.

Yah, it seems that the forums now append the URL for that "You are leaving WotC's site" page, which botches script generated URLs, like those for both the GH-L and Greytalk archives.

Oh well, with WotC forum's vast audience, which assumedly contains a sizeable group of minors, I can understand the reasoning for using that safegaurd page.

Hey Wizos, is there any known workaround for this tho? I just want to be able to link to things like the archives, not circumvent the warning page. TIA for any advice.

Greyhawk 2000 was, I felt, a really great idea, and just one article in Dragon and one adventure in Dungeon weren't enough. Unfortunately, most people seem to dislike them (for some reason). Apparently, showing future history for a campaign never seems to go over well.

There are some things in the d20 Modern books that might help flesh out a GH2K campaign, mostly in terms of lifting technology used alongside magic, and ideas for what life then is like. Just be warned, it says Iuz was carpet-bombed with biochemical and nuclear weapons...but according to d20 Future a nuclear bomb (I think 1 megaton) only does 16d8 damage - that's an average of 72 points of damage! Compared to Iuz's stats (dragon #294) it's easy to see why that didn't kill him (though it did blast him into another dimension - let's hope that's not DBZ-speak ;) ).
