#5iltharanosOct 15, 2004 23:08:38 | Did you like the geography section ferratus? ;) |
#6ferratusOct 17, 2004 21:36:34 | The best two compliments I can give are that I couldn't read it all in one sitting, and I now know how the politics of Ansalon work. Whoever wrote the Geography chapter has pretty much made the biggest impact on the setting than anyone else since the original modules and 6 novels. |
#7talinthasOct 17, 2004 23:28:15 | yup. i'm in complete agreement. the geography section is the single most important publication since chron. |
#8zombiegleemaxOct 18, 2004 6:09:16 | Great book. Thx for this monument of DL. But so goood this book is, some Question for WotL was not answer. Can i ask in this Threat or is this only a plauditthreat?! |

I have to say I was just a bit curious what some of you would think of chapter 3, heh. |
#10cam_banksOct 18, 2004 9:18:14 | :D I can't say I did it all, but I'm glad those sleepless nights were worth it. Some of us still haven't recovered! Cheers, Cam |
#11zombiegleemaxOct 18, 2004 9:19:30 | Some of us still haven't recovered! Cam, That's because we refuse to let you sleep! :-) Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#12cam_banksOct 18, 2004 9:23:37 | Cam, You know how it goes: It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. Cheers, Cam |
#13zombiegleemaxOct 18, 2004 9:58:22 | You know how it goes: Poor Cam has done gone and crossed his genres again. Sean! Help me untangle Cam again before Dune references start getting into the manuscript! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#14DragonhelmOct 18, 2004 10:15:59 | Cam always seemed like a cultured, well-educated individual to me. It's just sad to see that he's degenerated into wearing a beer hat with Starbucks on either side. :D We expected this from Sean, but Cam? ;) I think I should probably run now..... |
#15kipper_snifferdoo_02Oct 18, 2004 10:19:29 | Poor Cam has done gone and crossed his genres again. Sean! Help me untangle Cam again before Dune references start getting into the manuscript! I'm still trying to figure out what the hell he meant when he told me 'Arakis teaches the attitude of the knife- chopping off what's incomplete and saying: "Now it’s complete because it's ended here." ' It sounds incomplete to me somehow... *stops drinking from his beer hat* what was that Trampas? |
#16talinthasOct 18, 2004 12:39:48 | hmm... Fear is the Mind Killer- a litany for the afflicted Kender perhaps? =) |
#17brimstoneOct 18, 2004 13:25:57 | hmm... Fear is the Mind Killer- a litany for the afflicted Kender perhaps? =) Fear is the Mind Killer, I will face my fear, I will let it pass through me... Damn, that's all I can remember. |
#18DragonhelmOct 18, 2004 13:29:43 | Fear is the path that leads to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger Anger leads to hate Hate leads to suffering Either that, or to twinkies, but I forget how that one goes. :D |
#19clarkvalentineOct 18, 2004 13:31:20 | Either that, or to twinkies, but I forget how that one goes. :D Imagine a twinkie that's thirty-five feet long and weighs approximately three tons. That's a big twinkie. |
#20wolf72Oct 18, 2004 17:49:25 | I came here to eat twinkies and cause suffering, and I'm all out of twinkies ... wait, wrong type of game :D |
#21shugiOct 18, 2004 19:16:41 | Fear isn't the mind killer... beer is the mind killer. Beer is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my beer. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. When the beer is gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.Fear leads to anger Ooh, I know this one... "Suffering Bastards" -- Michael Wincott -- "The Three Musketeers" -- Kiefer Sutherland -- "Flatliners" with Kevin Bacon! And, er, WotL rocks! |
#22ferratusOct 19, 2004 0:34:52 | :D I can't say I did it all, but I'm glad those sleepless nights were worth it. I have to say I was just a bit curious what some of you would think of chapter 3, heh. Oh, I was amazed at how well you walked the line between various tastes. I'm thinking over the various things those concerned with geography have said over the last few years and I think this would genuinely satisfy everybody. My big thing was I wanted the politics resolved. There was some debate about this, because some didn't want solid borders and a "war torn" feeling of general chaos. You managed to satisfy both. Then there was the big debate with a lot of anger behind it was whether or not Dragonlance needed any geographical information behind it at all. There was accusations that if you didn't come up with your own geographical information that you had a bad imagination or were a bad DM. Some stated that it would restrict story and be bad for the community if there was a canonical account of what Krynn was actually like. Some, like myself, felt there really couldn't be an online community without it. I think the amount of info for all the regions was perfect (except Solamnia which could have used another page). I also think there is plenty of room for development and that there have been no doors closed. In fact, with the common threads, it can only encourage sharing fanwork. For example, take my Southern Ergoth entry at DL3e. To make it match what is written in the book here, all I have to do change the population numbers (to reflect the much lower population you have) and the description of the Tower known as "The Blade". This is because it developed from shared sources, namely the original modules and Steve Miller's writeup of Northern Ergoth. Kharolis however had nothing written about it, which is why the resulting regions are very different. Nordmaar, if I ever finished it, would have also been very different than what you had written. Anyway, I'm happy the regions are settled now, so I can start to work on the juicy parts of the campaign setting. I'm hoping to do a "fan enhancement" for Towers of High Sorcery called Enchanted Enclaves. Best I could come up with. Does anyone else have a [magic word] [location, home] title they could give me? I cannot use the words wizard, sorcerer, mystic, or any derivation of said words. I'm pretty excited about it. I figure these would be good locations: - House of Two Brothers - contrasting sorcerers and wizards by having one of each live together - Alchemist’s Foundry (working title) - A keep full of alchemists and what potions and poisons they have created. - Temple of the Moons (Mystery Cult) (working title) - a place where mages can go for divine revelations of arcane magic - The Arcane Academy of Crystine - To prove that the Academy doesn't have to be in Solace. - Tower of Orkain - Standard Wizard Tower cause we all need them quickly when the occassion demands. - The Geomancer’s Guild - Example of "commonplace" sorcery, used in the construction and movement of earth. Powerbrokers of their community. - Ruins of Ghuth – Home of Undead Istarian Renegade Wizards in Kern - Lycan’s Observatory - School and place of study for Wizards of High Sorcery |
