So I wanted to put a sect in Sigil based around the idea that symbols contain the essence of what they represent. This of course means language is power. The group seeks to fact check faction statements, intern with Harry Hatchys (Sigil's premier advertizing specialist) and---here's the clincher--revere the dabus as their rebuses led to the sect's enlightenment. How would the Lady react to some of the members worshipping the dabus, though never with much show in public?

That sounds like it would depend on your view of the link between the dabus and Her Dread Serenity in your campaign. For example, if the dabus are an extension of the Lady, well... the results there should be obvious. But if it doesn't count as Lady-worship, and doesn't disturb the city... sounds like she'd ignore it.

^^well, they will likely become more devoted with time, seeking their blessing, dancing and chanting around them, trying to touch the rebuses for good luck, and the more zealous, well...dabusphilia, ewwww!!!

Well the Dabus clearly can't be a literal extension of Her will... How would you explain Fell???

Is Fell to the Lady as Josbert Plum is to Farrow?

...unless the Lady of Pain is actually Aoskar, and so Fell (as the only permitted worshipper) is the only thing that prevents Her Serenity from dying due to lack of faith - because if everyone knew She was merely an ordinary deity, She'd be far easier to kill....
Or She could just be six squirrels in a dress. Perhaps Fell is the acorn that got away?
The truth is out there...

Unless Fell isn't really a fallen Dabus, but a tool of The Lady to bring about Aoskar's destruction, giving the portal father enough of a presence within Sigil to allow Her to destroy him utterly. Not that I ascribe to that idea mind you. ;)

the Dabus' speach is confusing on levels anyway.

After all, any question of who they serve, what they serve, etc, gets one answer.

I hold that Fell was a trump card in order to net the Lady a pet Greater Power as a tool for who knows what purpose.

Combination of Shemeska's comment on Fell being a way for her to gain access to him combined with enough of his power in fell that when he died, the rest was able to be siphoned into Fell.

Thus we have the Dabus, who still serves the Lady, wielding the power of a Greater God for her behind the scenes.

I guess Fell to the Lady isn't much different from rogue modrons to the modron collective. A leg is a part of one's body, but sever it...and...well, it goes hopping off on it's own...? All grand and happy!

I would say that a group that worshipped the Dabus would get wacked by the Lady of Pain. If the Lady doesn't approve of one Dabus worshipping a god in her city, then I doubt she would appreciate her Dabus being worshipped, and by extention in the eyes of some, her.
