A Different Kind of Greyhawk Campaign

I've been brainstorming a bit, and wanted to share some of the Greyhawk campaign ideas I've had over the past few days. Basically, if I want to play a Greyhawk game, I wanna do it my way. Here are some of the changes I was considering:

-Basically turn the Empire of Iuz and the surrounding lands into a real Demon-Corrupted, Chaos-blasted wasteland. I could have him secure an alliance with the Galchutt (from Monte Cook's "Chaositech") to acquire the secrets of their Chaositech and use them to reinforce his troops, along with bringing more Demons to Oerth.

-The creation of a "Kingdom of the Undead", a plague-wasted land ruled by a chaotic "alliance" of Deathgod Cults, Lichkings and Vampiric Lords, only united by a common goal of bringing Death and Destruction across Oerth, but otherwise feuding amongst themselves, especially due to the conflicting influence of different Death Cults vying for dominance (Nerull vs Orcus, mostly). Generally, an excuse for using nearly everything out of Libris Mortis. Dunno where I'd put it, though.

-This would lead to something of an arms race/Renaissance, with different kingdoms developping different "technologies" to try and match up against Iuz' Chaositech; Steampunk and Clockpunk devices swiped from DragonMech or Steam and Sorcery, or "Magipunk" devices from Eberron. That, and perhaps Doom Striders and Airships out of the books by Bastion Press.

-Explorers/Visitors from other lands of Greyhawk like Nippon, Zindia and The Celestial Imperium, thereby allowing for more exotic type characters like Samurai, Shugenja and character types from other supplements..

-A much more cinematic, almost "Wuxia" style of adventuring with PCs being heroically competant..

In short, combining inspirations from Eberron, Exalted, Warhammer Fantasy, Final Fantasy and Escaflowne... Those are some basic, random ideas of mine... I'd like some feedback...

I have no problem with this. (I'd probably just go play Ebberon, but I get where you are coming from). I'd just suggest setting the campaign a few hundred years in the future.

Kind of a side note but in my campaign, I have a unique (or at least I would like to think so) thing I have imagined about the land of Iuz. All colors are desaturated and the land seems almost black and white except when fire and blood are present. Those two things are more vivid to the eye. I explain it by saying the evil/magic in this land is so horrible and powerful that it has literally changed the way light reflects to the eye. Of course I am taking this through the eyes of a good aligned character. Still haven't decided about evil characters. This may seem like the true sight all should have to evil aligned characters.

Anyway, I think it adds a little more mystery, mysticism, ambience and horror to the lands. My players have yet to traverse the lands of Iuz and some say they never will.... but only time will tell. =)

I've always imagined the Empire of Iuz to resemble Mordor -- eerily bleak, overcast and desolate with all sorts of vile creatures and fiends about.

Your "Kingdom of Undead" would seem most at home in Rinloru. Ruined Medegia and Almor seem two other likely candidates. Perhaps it would arise in northern Furyondy in the lands that Iuz overran. Tenh may be another candidate.
