1. Nibenay: The shadow King before Free year 10: A sorcerer king that nobody ever saw. A city with gargoyle, drawing and sculpture everywhere (very gothic mood) with a writing remembering Egyptian hieroglyph. And all the templar are nude dangerous female :D Sexiest and scariest city.

2. Tyr: I always loved the way Tyr was constructed. The ziggoruat is pretty cool and the Godlen tower too. My favorite SK palace. As for Kalak, is my player favorite SK since in my campaign, they had to kill him before he transform into a dragon, and when they tough troughout the campaign he was a bad-ass sorcerer king, but when they saw it was a dime-witted old men with frail body, they were like, ``Ohh,hes weak`` but they changed opinion when they saw he was able to lift an half-giant and was a 21 level psionic/defiler. Plus the fact that is the weakiest of the SK but almost manage to become a full dragon is scary.

3. Urik: I dont very like the city but it give me a lot of cool idea. I find the idea of the Law of Hamanu pretty cool. These law are crazy. Like you can look in the eye of a templar and wear cloak.
And what about impaling people the way Urikite does. In my campaign, if you disobey a templar, you get impaled alive on big stake on the wall and you lose 1d10 point of Con each day till you die. You can get free by yourself. When I describe the city, I always had corpse impaled on the wall and some of them are still alive.

  • New Giustenal: Dregoth is bad-ass #1, supreme master of kicking anyone's butt back to the green age. And the Dray are cool too.
  • Urik: I jus like the old Babylonian influence in developing Urik, I like Hamanu himself - as he is a bad-ass, ut seems scared of his own potential.
  • Kurn: Oronis is just a fun little enigma to play around with.

1. I like Gulg. I'm a little bit of a nature lover and I like guerilla-type squads of Judaga head-hunters running free in the Crescent forest. Granted, the Oba migth not be the most intelligent or strongest SK, but she sure is the cutest. ;)

2. Balic... I love her silt covered shores, the air blowing in my face... and plugging up my lungs. Really, I like the Greek-type port of silt skimmers and the false democratic politics going on there. I have a bunch of philosophers in my campaign arguing about life in the center of town... under the watchful eyes of the templars. Andropinis is not my favorite, though I don't completely dislike is style as a vilain.

3. I like the idea of Kurn and Oronis but I haven't really used them in my campaign, yet.

Raam: pre- and post-PP events. I love its chaos, its rebellious atmosphere, its pent-up fury. The factions, the templars moving down the streets in strike teams, rampant diseases, a fortified palace, a fake god, ....

My favorite SM would be Dregoth, he's the baddest thing on the block, with the exception of Rajaat, and will only get tougher as time progresses, especially after DA takes place.

My favorite city-state is Nibenay because I like the Egyptian and other influences the city has, most of all the dance routines practiced within. Plus I'm a sucker for powerful, naked or topless women running around, heh.

Well really, who isn't?

My big campaign deals with Oronis secretly trying to thwart Dregoth, (this is where the PCs come in). The rest are quietly sending Oronis their support, as they become more aware of Dregoths threat.

1. Tectuktitlay and Draj. The Aztec-inspired warrior culture and ritual sacrifices, the jaguars, and the worship of Tectuktitlay and the moons.

2. Nibenay and Nibenay. The mystery surrounding the Shadow King, the half-cilops prince, the female templars and the thai-inspired culture.

3. Hamanu and Urik. Hamanu's warrior-king image, his lieutenants, his laws and the Babylonian feel of Urik (and Hammurabi...).

Nibenay is Thai or Egyptian?

I know the name Nibenay, Naggaramakam, Djena, Siemouk, Dhojkat are egyptian sounding.
The picture language is like hieroglyph. Tomb in the southern part of the city. The mummification of the dead (see Ivory triangle)

But there also the way the people dress (more like thai) and there the boudhist style monk.

I''ll have to say Azutec from Draj. I'm fascinated how he went from a nobody to a full blown SK in a 300 yr span with no explanation. ;)

I always found Abalach-Re much more egyptian-sounding than Nibenay.

I've actually used Dregoth in campaigns outside of Dark Sun - going with the premise that he has that Portal of his, and has been wandering the planes as a result, figuring out how to become a god.

I had gone that route with Big D as well. I used it to introduce a female asimar NPC to the party. The back story to her was that during one of Dregoth's visits to the outer planes he ran across a solar who he had captured and "persuaded" to tell all he knew of true gods. I needn't tell you what befell the poor celestial. Long story short, the asimar came to Athas seeking revenege against the Dread King for the death of her father.

Well, that is what he has been up to for 2000 years...

Abalach-re sound egyptian but her city is definetly Indian.

Wich city that from the green age?

-I know Tyr date back as far as the blue age (Tyr-agi)
-Nibenay must be pretty old since it have old tombe and writting that the shadow king want to learn.
-Balic must date back from the green age since it have dock.
-Gulg must have been founded in the Sorcerer age
-Wanderer journal state that Draj was founded not lnog ago, so it must be Sorcerer age too except for the pyramid who date back from the green age.
- Kalidnay,Bodach,Waverly,Glustenial are from the Green age.
- Eldarrich and Kurn are from Green age
- New Kurn was founded in the sorcerer age.
- Ur-draxa is from the sorcerer age.

That left Urik, Raam and Yaramuke we dont have any info about.

Never said Raam was Egyptian, just that Abalach-Re's name sounds more Egyptian than Nibenay does in my ears. I agree that Raam has an Indian feel.

Nibenay is Thai or Egyptian?

Both IMO.

Most of the naming scheme, dancing, and the pictographs is all Egyptian based.
