I will try to start Darksun (and the interest for darksun) in a small RPG convention by doing a 5 hours DS game.

I would like YOU, peoples of the board, to give me ideas and insight (as I never did such fast and short game).

What kind of plotline would you thoughs about? I want to make a game for about 4 to 5 peoples of about level 5.

Ideas: Please

Insight: Thanks

In short , I want game ideas.

You could run them through Whispers of the Storm.

If your looking for short adventures that will be concluded in a 4 to 5 hour time period I'd suggest maybe the Dungeon Mag DS Adventures . Even though Whispers of the Storm is a very good adventure I don't think it could be run to completion in that amount of time. Raiders of the Chanth and The Last Troll are very good Dungeon adventures that could be run fullly in a very short amount of time.

Try this one:

PC start as slave in a caravane that his making the trip Urik to Tyr. Give them some way to escape. When they are outside, they are hunted by the caravane guard riding Kank or crodlu. They now must wander in the desert (and survive) for a safe place while being hunted by the guard. They come along an oasis that his an hiding place for ex-dwarves slave. The guard discover it and send a little army to conquer the oasis and the dwarve inside it. The PC must now defend the oasis from the invading slaver (Like a siege.)

There it is, a 5 jour quest I just made in 5 minute of thinking.

The short adventure included in the original DS Boxed Set could also work.

Thanks, it game me a couple of ideas. If you have more, please tell!

It will sound like a bunch of slaves taken to the cresten forest to lumber for the city of Gulg. A noble (veiled alliance) came to buy a slave (the preserver of the group) to get him out of there. Of course, he was buying more than one so nobody would wonder why just this one. The group of buyed slaves was told before leaving that the noble would free them when SUDDENTLY, coming from everywhere, a "something" exploded and much died, followed by several poisonnous stings which made fall asleep everybody else.

Awaken by an air cleric, the remaining PCs have to seek the nobles, taken by some obscure group, in order to own their freedom.

The peoples that abducted these others peoples is in fact a group of Nibenese templars with a group of special trained halfling team. They are gathering peoples in order to accomodate the Dragon's Levy... So the group head through the forest to the desert in hope to rescue the noble before it is too late (of course, they doesnt know this part of the history, but they can manage to imagine a small part of what's happening.

What do you think? And do you have things to add to this plotline?

if you want to be in Nibenay area, try this one. The PC are ex-slave that must rescue someone important (insert reason here), That person is in the Dragon levy heading east in the Salt flat to be sacrified for the Dragon (nobody of course know that except the templar). The PC must then survive the harsh desert and rescue the guy before the Levy arrive where the Dragon wait for it. Of course, you must find a single slave in a big mob of 1000 slaves protected by Templar and guard. So the PC will have to pass has slave to get into the levy.

Don't try to come up with plotlines which ends well.. They can all die at the end.. hehe :D But I think the levy plot would be nice, and they wouldn't know but they could be the price to free the noble/veiled member.

Let the noble betray them and sell them out to secure his own freedom. Then, let the noble die as well. Oh, the gratitude. :P

If you have just 5 hours, and you doing it for demonstrative reason (to recruit new DS fans) than the feeling can be more important than the actual plotline! Remember this.

But for a plotline: if you take out the slave pens part from the module Freedom, and just put the end goal to somehow escape (not using the arena and the dragon transformation and the other part) it can also work. Maybe spending half of the time in the slave plans, plotting the escape and the other half is to execute the escape and avoid the possible chasers (templars, slave hunters) in the desert. You can put that brick mine out of the city, in an independent compound/penalty institute.
