Okay, here's the prob. Name's Fringe, werewolf-tiefling basher out of Sigil. Now, there's some blood by the name of DM, who wants to introduce a bit of a rather peery problem for me that'd put me in the dead-book for all I know.

Namely, a problem called 'Love'. I'm sure a few of you Planar-types know all about some Powers who rule this thing. Not to mention there's this chant goin on about a couple that includes a Cornugon and a Succubus! Now Mister DM, being the addle-coved prick that he is, has been asking questions of me as to, what kind of a mate am I looking for.

AND I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ANY MATE! Or lover or whatnot. Situation like that creates far too many problems for my care. Buuut, how would one run a love story on the planes anyway? Your spilling of the dark would be helpful for this basher here. If only to make the DM pike it!

Just wait for Shemmy and/or Clueless ;). Even better: read their ongoing storyhour.

Part of being a good DM, is knowing what your players want in a game and look to it that you don't push things on your PCs that they do not want. Some might want nothing to do with Love, while others hate standard dungeon crawling. A DM can try to bring new things into the game, but if they do not hit the mark, he should leave them out of your gaming group.
That being said, I actually have a romantic encounter in both the world where I DM, but also have a romantic relationship with a fellow PC (who's actually a girl, which helps a lot! :D ). While a DM should look to what the players want, players should not be too hasty to deny new ideas. Try it if its not too repulsive, and you might find it a great addition to your character.
And as to the planes, you could have a long trek across the planes as you look for the key to your loves heart, and actually find yourself looking for a key as you discover there is actually a lock on sweethearts heart (Torment anyone? ;) )

Oh yes, Mr. Tormented.... never had the chance to meet him myself but I've heard some rather interesting bits of chant on him. Moving along though, I'm rather peeved to say that Mister DM is currently looking over my shoulder and is saying thanks.... The addle-coved clueless berk should be shoved right down to Nessus.

Now DM here wants to know what might be a suitable....'comapanion' for a Tiefer such as moi. And as much as I horribly reject the notion, he might go along and try it just for kicks. (Olidimarra, Aphrodite, and Vecna are most likely going to laugh at my plight.)

Let's assume for the moment I DO find myself being dragged swinging a chive and howling for Pandemonium towards the goal of.....

*I, DM, am now currently typing this sense the thoughts of unrequited love from Fringe force him to lose his lunch. Which wasn't wholesome in the least bit. Eating Vrocks I swear must really tear up his stomach lining... Anywho, after this intrepid adventure makes him at least more comfortable with the idea, a good space between romancing adventures may be in order.

Perhaps another planewalker is in order? Or a damsel that can only be visited infrequently due to risky conditions (she lives in the Lower Planes afterall!) or harrowingly destructive and repungent conditions (she's the daughter of a paladin, who already had a groom that's an aasimar picked out for her by daddy dearest, that has a beach-side residence on Lunia after all!) Decisions decisions.... oh, crud, Fringe is recovering....damn forti-*

GETTING back for I'm not in the dead-book yet, interesting scenarios for PC's, and myself, and that accursed L-Word (which we all know Sensates give to anything in sight) are welcomed.....somewhat.
