I'm too overweight for that, sorry. ;)

Oh, you mean his stats! :D

I'd say he'd be a fighter/Knight of the Lily/legendary tactician with the honor-bound feat. I don't know why, but I always pictured him at 17th level.

If I worked out a lot more, and spent most of my free time training like a crazy person to be the finest swordsman and general in the world, I might have a nice Ariakan build.

Oh, you're talking about Ariakan's stats! Heh. Nope, no Chaos War era stat block's been created for Ariakan yet.

Cheers,
Cam

Actually, I dunno about giving Ariakan levels of Lily Knight...and anyway, he needs to have some Dragon Rider levels.

Uh....he was head of the Knights of Takhisis. He was definitely a warrior, so that would place him in the ranks of the Knights of the Lily.

Out of curiosity, why would you not go with Lily Knight levels?

and anyway, he needs to have some Dragon Rider levels.

Maybe, although I don't recall any instances of him riding a dragon. That certainly wasn't his focus.

I would say he is more of a Paladin variant (you know, the evil ones) and yes I would say that he probably needs some dragon rider levels as he was the head of the Knights of Takhisis and they incorporate dragons in the ranks and the commanders of wings, and companies are dragon riders. You can probably do without them but I say he deserves them.

I was flipping through my old copy of "The Second Generation" the other day, mostly for 2E Knights of Takhisis stats and info, and it pointed out that the lily knights were the political core of the organization. Ariakan would definitely have lily levels, being both a warrior and the leader. In the silver anniversary book it has ariakan's stats for when he was a youngster, with like 4 levels of fighter (granted it was 2E, but still). So I imagine he'd be like fighter 4/lily 10/legendary tactician 5 at least. Possibly with some highlord levels thrown in (he was working for takhisis remember).

2nd generation also had some nice info on the structure and all of the dark knights and their formation and tactics. I forgot just how nifty that book was.

Hey, can you either send me a PM or an e-mail with his 2e stats? I mainly need his ability scores, levels, HP, etc.

Thanks!

Well, my reasoning was that he was never actually refered to as a Knight of the Lily, to my knowledge. Yes, he was a warrior, but he was leader ofall the knights, and I always thought that all the orders had an equal rank. I knew that changed after his death; for instance, with Targonne, the Skull Knights were in charge, mostly. And anyway, Ariakan was famous for riding a dragon; he was one of the only Knights that rode a red dragon(the others mostly rode blue). Lord Ausric Krell poisoned his dragon, and that's how Ariakan died, although I doubt he would have lived through the battle with the Daemon Warriors anyway.

You know, I want to say that Krell thing is a retcon. I thought Ariakan died fighting some sort of daemon warrior, or some other chaos creature. Hrm...

Jacen, if he's not a Lily Knight, then would you say he's a member of another order? I'm curious what classes you would assign to him.

I always saw Ariakan as above the orders. I made him about a level 20, Fighter 6/Legendary Tactician 10/Dragon Rider 4, plus I'm workign on a template to give him, called half-diety, which would give him abilities boosts, DR, SR, and ER, mabe a few spell-like abilities...he was, after all, an incredible leader and fighter. Just because he was never seen as using magic doesn't mean that he didn't...for example, what if he had Bulls Strength as a spell-like ability? He was Ariakas's best general at the age of 17!

EDIT: Oh yeah....Ariakan was killed in an invasion of the High Clerist's Tower by Daemon Warriors...at the end of the battle, they found Ariakan crushed under his dragon, IIRC. They thought that his dragon was simply killed...but in actuality, his dragon was poisoned. It probably wasn't planned for that to have happened when they wrote it, but it fits perfectly.

How about mixing little everything here:
So, we need warrior with tactician levels, dragon rider and something special (he is son of goddess!). Also I personally think that he should be Knight of Lily, and like also the idea of Paladin - Evil Paladin (honorable fighter is just too easy). Paladin would fit more to that "son-of-goddess" image. He would have connection with dragon, but would not be any better than that with dragons, and would have more levels on Tactician field.

Paladin(evil:tyranny)5 / Lily10 / Dragon Rider1 / Legendary Tactician4, AND he should be somekind of half-human, with stronger abilities rising his CR above 20.

He may be the son of a goddess, but he has shown no abilities that are beyond mortal ability. There is also no proof of him casting spells, whether arcane or divine.

The temptation is there to make him more than what he was, especially as the son of a goddess. In the end, he boils down to a Knight of the Lily with extraordinary leadership abilities. I could see levels in dragon rider, but that's about it.

My own view on Ariakan's NPC brief looks a little like this:

Male human fighter 6/knight of the Lily 10/legendary tactician 4

Dragon rider? I hardly knew her.
