Is there any difference between "Core D&D" and Greyhawk?

Durn it! We really need to add this to the FAQ.

To answer your question, yes a lot.

Core D&D use Greyhawk as the "default" setting. Translation: as a dumping ground.

GH receives no official support from WotC outside of Living Greyhawk. Sure, we get a god here and a spell there in the various "Core" accessories but that's about it.

GH the setting uses the Core D&D rules, and the Core D&D rules dump anything new they produce into something they call Greyhawk but which isn't, IMHO, a true representation of the GH setting.

At the present time, however, that's all we can expect from them so that's that.

Not to mention the fact that Core D&D makes virtually no reference to the rich background material that is Greyhawk and does not provide support for things like prestige classes in the same detail as other "Official" product lines.....
