Has anyone considered tailoring the Artificer class from Eberron for DL? I was looking at it today and it could make for an interesting class. The biggest challenge would be resolving the infusions, which are neither divine nor arcane magic.

I also thought some of the new Craft feats were particularly well-suited to the Master class in DL (the Eberron feats reduce xp cost, gp cost, and crafting time by 25%; one feat for each).

I have visions of a gnomish artificer... :D

Thoughts?

I have a player wanting to play an artificer, having trouble figureing whether artificing touches on ambient or focused spellcasting or both... confusing.

One of the tradition schools of sorcery taught at Palin's Academy was the school of enhancement, which was magic that allowed weapons to strike more surely, armor to withstand greater blows, tools to perform more efficiently, and so forth. It was the power to enhance the inherent potential in things, and would very suitably reflect the artificer's ability to imbue items with magic or craft magical equipment. This limits the artificer to the Age of Mortals era, but would certainly allow the class to be played.

Cheers,

I don't know anything about the Artificer, because I've never played Eberron, but it sounds like a building magic items class from what you're saying...

if that's the case, there's always the Spellbroker in the High Sorcery book...It would make a PC that has abilities similar to Jenna, but they specialize in building things.

But then, I could be completely wrong. ;P~
