One could even be really creative and use a modified version of the Origin of Species epic spell to create a new living vortex....

Aye, and as far as I'm concerned the remaining champions that became SMs are the only ones with the living vortices attached to them, and there is no other way to duplicate this, once they are gone, they are gone.

So I disagree with Lynn in that area at least.

Hence why Dregoth doing what he does in DA will bring Athas to its kness, mwuahahahahaha!

Ok, enough spoilers...

or alternativley, all the vortices merger together in the heat of the moment, and Atha's first TRUE god emerges... from Dregoth's CHEST is a splatter or gore and violence, ready to wreck havoc on it's former tormentors....

Awesome! I had an idea for Elemental Gods on Athas, but what an awesome way to introduce them! It seems to me, that since the conduits for spirit energy go only to and from the Inner Planes, any god who made their home there exclusively and had no outer-planar ties could be a true Athasian god!

It even gets better. The elemental vortices we a kind of collective-proto-god intellect. They set up the whole situation with the SK's to learn about human behaviour to better understand the world. They activley joined in at the time of them becoming champions to learn how to interact with thier *future* worshipers... then they merge, blow a massive whole in Dregoths's chest... setting up an interesting showdown... the SK's vs the Newly born god....

Then there's the bit of rise and fall and lynn abbey's notes where she says that the sorcerer-kings, either with the pristine tower or dark lens, would be able to create new sorcerer kings with spell-granting abilities.

Ooo, stop you there.
The SKs, in Abbey's story, are aware that the process of transforming a human into a Champion requires Rajaat, the Pristine Tower, the dark waters in the upermost chamber, the crystal of steeples and the dark lens snugly in the middle of it.

Since such a conjonction of elements is no longer possible under the current conditions (and hasn't been ever since Rajaat was first imprisonned), a new Champion is an impossibility.

But Abbey also said that the process of transformation into a Champion, since it uses the Dark Lens (the wanna be Champion "incubates" inside the Dark Lens), links the newly minted Champion to the Lens, which allows Lens magic to be used, i.e. templar magic.

Thus, someone as powerful as the Dragon, with the Lens, and storming the Pristine Tower while keeping the Shadow Giants at bay, might attempt to create something half-way close to a Champion, or might just succeed at linking up the poor fellow to the Lens, granting him the use of templar magic.

Enough with the DA spoilers. Dregoth Ascending Part I is going to be released before Christmas and you're ruining the fun for all those who haven't seen it and are really looking forward to its release.

Or we could just simply start warning that there will be spoilers in the post.

True enough. I just don't want the athas.org crew to get irritated enough to scrap the project

Do me a favour and don't discuss DA here on the boards, do it privately because there is a Dragon trying to fry my .
