I was wondering if a draconian would be allowed to take the Alternate Form feat (from the Draconimicon). Prerequisites: Dragon (Adult age or older), Caster Level 5.

Now I know that Draconians do not necesarily have Age Categories unless you count Adulthood\Midle Age\Old\Venerable age chart as age categories.

Where as a draconian would be an adult at 5 years of age.

Would like opinions and if possible (doubt it) something official.

The reason I ask is I am thinking about playing a Draconian wizard who eventually takes the test but does not want to scare anyone when he does. Plus it will be easier to work with people if they are not constantly reminded that he is a draconian.

Oh yeah, what do you think would be a good soul forge effect for a kapak draconian or a sivak draconian.

I'm a pretty liberal DM, but I dont think I would allow it. While it does say that the feat requires you to be an Adult Dragon, I'm pretty sure they worded it that way so that only true dragons would be able to take it. Its kind of related to when my brother's Kapak Barbarian wanted to take metabreath feats in order to boost up his breath weapon. It said under the entry (Must count breath weapon in rounds), which draconians get a breath weapon like 1/day. My brother came back with.. "well I do count min in rounds, I can use it 1/14,400 rounds". Which is true, but it goes against the intent heh.

I dunno, justf or some reason I think your character should get a magical item to be able to change shape or just wait for the spells in order to be able to do it. But, some DM's may disagree and see nothing wrong with. personally I think it kind of steps on the toes of the Sivak... but as I said others may see nothing wrong with it.

No, only a true dragon may take this feat. That's why it has the age category requirement listed, effectively preventing wyverns, draconians, etc from taking the feat.

Cheers,
