I've been running a Greyhawk based campaign for a few of my friends with an outstanding level of success.

We started out the campaign using a house rule laden 2nd edition of AD&D, but have progressed throught D&D 3rd ed. and now fairly recently to D&D 3.5. While it's been quite a bit of work on my part getting the new system(s) under my belt and converting the older published materials, the end result has been well worth it. While we are only able to get together on a bi-monthly basis, we e-mail and talk about the campaign for quite a bit of non-game time.

So far we've run through the Temple of Elemental Evil, and have a pretty good start on the Slavelords. Eventually I have the Giant Series planned as well as a trip to the Vault of the Drow. (Ok, so I like the old modules...)

Eventually, after the party has been away from their home base in Homlett for a few years (I figure atleast 5, perhaps even 10) it would be a great time to run Return to the Temple. Here's my quandry, I have picked up a copy of the Retun to the Temple second had, and is in very good condition, but it doesn't have the map booklet.

If anyone knows of where I can get a copy of the maps without getting a new copy of the RTTOEE module, I would appriciate the help. The last price I saw for the complete module new on e-bay was far, far more than I would ever consider paying.

Welcome!

First, I advise you strongly to go here (copy/paste to your browser)

http://zans.clanplaid.net/v35/

and download the .pdf (or .doc) file found on the top of the page (the links below do not work anymore). It will save you TONS of work, quite literally!

Second, you may wish to look at these too: (again, copy/paste)

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20010720a

Finally, I know that Bob Cooper had prepared a slideshow (in PowerPoint) that displayed most of the pic AND a few of the maps from RttToEE but I can't seem to find it anymore. Maybe a quick Google search..?

The eratta to the campaign module has been downloaded & printed as has the web enhancements from the other links. This will prove usefull eventually, but unless I can find the maps that were created specifically for the RTTTOEE, having this information will become a moot point.

I've also already done web searches with Google and AltaVista with no luck. I guess what I was hoping for was a site that already has the maps scanned in where I can download them.

Good thing I have plenty of time before I need the setting maps. Hopefully I can find something...somewhere...

Not to sound pessimistic but given the module is still under copyright from WotC, I doubt the latter would look kindly on a website that offered all the maps for free (which is probably why Bob's file has 'disappeared').

The only alternative I can think of is to hope someone went to the trouble of duplicating the maps in CC2-Pro and posted them somewhere.

Blackhawk04's circumstances suggest that fair use doctrine should protect anyone who provided him with copies of the maps and Blackhawk04 too, who bought a copy of a Wizards' out-of-print module, which was missing an important part.

This was not legal advice but instead a general statement that U.S. and international law recognize certain exceptions to copyright law.

More information about Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (RttToEE) can be gained at the adventure's official forum. These guys know everything about RttToEE, and you are well served frequenting the forum HERE.

Also, ZansforCans does have the maps you seek. Look HERE and you will find what you are looking for. Look at a sample map HERE.

Happy gaming. RttToEE is one of my all-time favorite adventures. I've played it once and judged it twice (once replacing the Crater Ridge Mines with the Monte Cook's Banewarrens). Great adventure.

I've finally had a chance to download the map sets I've been looking for. The only thing I would add to anyone who is you'll need to use photoshop to delete the screening layers so you can see the entire map.

After a bit of work, it looks like I have everything I need to run the Return of the Temple for my group...that is AFTER they get through an adventure I've written (loosely based on the "Terror in the Tropics" and "On the Town" mini adventures from WGR2 Treasures of Greyhawk) and the Giant series.

I may have to play around with the power levels a bit in the return of the temple, but as I get closer to the actual run date of the adventure I'll know more about this.

If all goes well with the time line I haev envisioned they will hane been away from Homlett for almost 10 years...alot can happen in 10 years.

You know, you're not too far off the timeline for RttToEE. It takes place about 12 years after the first one I believe. Just a coincidence or did you plan it that way?
