Greetings.

The story has a new home, but the characters (as promised) are being posted here. Feel free to use them in your own games if you like. They were built using the PHB, DLCS, and AOM.

Born on the streets of Solanthus, Lyrderal was the only child of two parents who would have been happier off if they hadn't ever had the boy. His mother, an elven maid to a former Qualinesti Noble, was touring through Solamnia when she met Lyrderal's father, a proud Palanthian minstrel who's greatest aspiration was to make music and coin. The affiar was brief and unfulfilling, and the father soon parted ways from the mother. Lyrderal was put up for adoption as soon as he was born and a series of unruly foster homes wasn't enough to contain the stubborn half-elf.

On the streets of Solanthus, Lyrderal learned the rules of life and how to get by. He fell in with several guilds of thieves and fences, dragging the willing and eager half-elf deeper into the underworld. One particularly daring heist, Lyrderal met his wife, Devina Altrus, and fell in love right away. Their marriage forced them to become outcasts from their respective guilds (they were members of rival guilds in the first place); they forged a life for themselves throughout Solamnia as the finest thieves-for-hire that could be bought, though Lyrderal seldom understood his wife's strange ethical dilemmas with what job they took and what job they didn't.

After the death of his wife in a bad fence deal, Lyrderal picked up the pieces of his life and went on with what he did best: Steal merchandise and offer it up for payment. Renowned for his prowess and agility and his reputation as one of the finest swordsmen walking Solamnia, Lyrderal finds himself able to fetch a high price in the underworld markets of Ansalon, a fact not lost on the haughty and proud half-elf.

Though proud and stubborn, Lyrderal's most endearing (and closely guarded) trait is his compassion for others in distress. Many a time has the half-elf compromised a job or routine assignment by going back to aid comrades or partners in trouble - something his wife had impressed upon him before her death (and ultimately the reason for her death as she was going back to save him at the time). Lyrderal may care little for the politics of the world and even less for the constant squabbling of his homeland's constant wars, but beneath the facade of indifference and roguish behavior lies the heart of a hero who, through both errands and mistakes, somehow manages to find a way to overcome what's placed before him.

Greetings.

I wanted to sum up a few PM's and e-mails I've received about Lyrderl without doing each one individually.

Lyrderal does have two-weapon fighting (and is somewhat proficient with it), but is neither a ranger (obviously) nor is that his best means of attack. With 4d6 worth of sneak attack damage and Improved Initiative, he's capable of doing a hefty chunk of hurtin' to anyone he squares up against, providing they're vulnerable to that type of damage.

Keep in mind that Lyrderal isn't especially woodscrafty; he's not really suited for ranger material and his focus and job require him to have a much higher emphasis on aspects of larceny.

His high Tumble and Balance are there to better mechanincally represent the swashbuckling style of combat that is seen throughout the story. Adding to that are his Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack feats (Spring Attack being especially nasty when used in conjunction with a few melee Tumbles every now and then). It also means he doesn't have to worry too much about polearms and reach weapons in some circumstances.

Hope that helps. Thanks.

Been extremely busy with college starting again. I'll get to more soon.

BTW - if any boards members who were featured in the story would like to post their story personas here, feel free to do so. I'd like to see what you've got behind the type. ;)
