Ok, I am bored and I thought that an NPC resource thread strictly for DragonLance DMs would be helpful.

The NPCs I am about to post were created by someone else, I do not have my paperwork with me at the time; therefore I cannot post my own right now. Feel free to add on to this resource, it was created for the Dragonlance DM that may need an NPC, or two, to add to his/her game.

NPC/group entries should contain the following information:

Name: NPC/group name.
Role: One-line description (such as "Merchant Guildmaster").
Setting: DragonLance
Background: Should be detailed enough to give us DMs a good idea of the NPCs history and motives, but should not be a 10,000 word essay.
Usage: Examples of how the NPC/group might become involved with the PCs.
Stats: Crunchy stuff.

Traps and location entires should contain all relevant descriptive and crunchy information, including diagrams where appropriate.

Constructive criticism is good, simply downing someone's character to instigate a fight is bad.

Ok, here we go...!

Personality: Marissa is soft-spoken and polite, gentle and humble. Though she’s a cleric, she doesn’t go around trying to get others to convert to any particular religion. As she sees it, everyone has their own calling, and hers is to help people. Also, she’s usually too busy working to be proslotyzing.

History:Marissa recently went through far more than any innocent young woman should.

Marissa Carter was the third child out of five born to loving parents in a farming community. One day when she was a child, her younger brother Louis fell out of tree while they were playing. She thought he was dead, and he would have been had not Celina, one of the local clerics, rushed over and healed him.

As her brother regained consciousness and she wiped away her tears, she saw a purpose for her life. She wanted to help others, just as Celina had helped her brother. After getting permission from her parents, she took a healer’s apprenticeship at the church. There she worked to help the community: curing wounds, healing injuries, and treating poison or disease. She received the name Brightheart upon the completion of her apprenticeship.

She’s had a sample of what adventuring is like, tagging along when villagers and adventurers cleared nearby monster lairs or fended off raids. Because of her vows as a healer, she refuses to fight herself, instead she bolstering allies with a blessing or prayer or darting through combat to tend to the injured with a timely cure wounds spell. But she knows what its like to have one’s life on the line, and what its like to be wounded herself.

And then one day, her world was turned upside down. It started out the same as any other expedition: several livestock had been attacked and eaten by some foul beast, and the community had banded together to kill it or drive it away. She was with a group searching a nearby cave when large, draconic humanoids attacked. They were incredibly fast- covering the distance lit by the lanterns and light spells before anyone could even shout a warning. The ensuing combat went poorly, and soon the group was falling back with serious injuries. While she tended to one of the wounded, one of the beasts let out a cry that seemed more an intelligent order than bestial roar and... pointed. At her. Upon this seeming signal, another one of the beasts rushed at her, heedless to the group’s efforts to stop it. Towering over her, its scales flickering with blue-white arcs of electricity, it reached out, swept her up, and carried her off into the darkness. The last thing she remembered before she lost consciousness was hearing the group crying her name echo in the distance.

She awoke to find herself bound in charcoal black vines rooted into the walls, ceiling, and floor of a cave, in the middle of which a small fire smoldered. Lengths of the vines sprouted thorns that pierced her flesh, and she could feel them draining her life away, leaving her exhausted and disabled. However, though they drained her, the vines kept her alive and nourished. She could move, slightly, but couldn’t break free or escape- the vines seemed to react to her moves to keep her pinned.

Called death beasts, super beasts, or minions of the dark one, the creatures were originally created by a long-dead mage simply referred to as the dark one. The process required elemental resources (earth, air, water, and fire) and positive energy from a living creature. Whether because of a vile sense of humor, or some unfathomable arcane quality, one of the more esoteric requirements was that the positive energy could only come from human or elven maidens. Those death beasts that have learned the method haven’t bothered to develop a variant, if it is at all possible.

Marissa’s ability to heal was her greatest asset and greatest liability- she was an excellent source of positive energy, and made for the spawning of more advanced death beasts, which is the reason they took her alive.

While she was bound, the death beast lair was often moved. During such times the vines would come off the walls and coil around her in a cocoon which was carried, surprisingly gently, by one of the beasts. She’s watched others like herself added into the tangle, and several hatchings of new beasts (which is why the process doesn’t kill the victims- so that they can be used in multiple cycles). Due to the semiconscious torpor the drain left her in and the underground nature of caves, she lost track of time and place. Was it a year? Two? Eventually, she and the others were rescued by adventurers who drove off the beasts and cut her loose.

The ordeal hasn’t broken her spirit- she still wants to help people, and now she has a strong empathy towards those who have their life drained away. She’d like to return home and find out if the others survived the encounter, but she’s a long way from home, and not sure what direction home is in.

Adventure notes:Marissa’s rescue need not have been a completed event, the PCs could encounter a lair of death beasts and rescue her themselves. They would then have a grateful, if disoriented and very, very frightened young healer to deal with.

Creation notes:Marissa would be more accurately written up as a variant of the cloistered cleric presented in Unearthed Arcana. Her lack of combat training would be represented by the decreased BAB and HD size.

NOTE: I did not create this NPC. It was cut and pasted from another thread(even the "created by someone" part). Each of the initial NPCs I am posting are cut and pasted from existing threads, nothing has been altered.

'aaaagh,holy $%&@, my head!'

He slowly opened this eyes, he was laying in the ground, and their eyes saw a clear blue sky.

'where I am?`asked himself and tried to remember... but failed, an awful lighting of pain came from his mind.

Not only this mind was painful, slowly this nervious system also waked up and felt like if someone beaten him to almost death... and with the pain also came the senses of smell and hear.

He heared the song of a handful of vultures and smelled the smells of blood and battle. Tha made him to react quickly and raised this upper body. He saw that was in the middle of a battlefield, there was not nobody alive, the fight seemed to have ended a couple of days ago... he was very hungry.

he asked himself again what was this battle and why was there... but again he only obtained a strong headache.

He then checked this body, was full of blows produced by a kind of blunt weapon and at this side saw a broken sword tried again to remember but again, pain shouted to this mind.

After such pains realized that the best thing to do was not trying to remember nothing again. He got up soon and started to walk, he wanted to be outside that painful place. He didnt tried to find out ever if this side in the battle was the winner of the looser, he just walked as fast as posible for this beaten body. In the way, he found a backpack with food and also a huge axe, he liked it because didnt caused him any pain, surely was the first time that saw it and so got it, he knew that having a good weapon it is important when being alone, althrought in that moment he only was able to use it as a staff.

And soon, that nameless warrior decided to not search for this past, was stupid try to follow the track one of the armies only to find out that was the other one... and ever if was the correct one, that would cause him a huge headache, he didnt wanted more pain so tried to stay in a close forest.

He discovered that was pretty good surviving in the woods, had a good intuition finding holes of little mammals and was good climbing for catching bird´s eggs and some fruits.
He stayed alone for a long time, he got skilled with this axe and soon became able to make clothes from animals skins and also made this own bow and arrows.

And so. he lived alone in the wood hiding from other people until a night when was waked by a female scream, he ran to find out that a in a close road, a woman riding a horse was surounded by monstruous humanoids, without thinking twice, he charged against the monsters, the monsters were skilled and they woundered the lonely warrior... but the wound cause him to loose all this autocontrol and entered into a frenzy rage, none of the monsters survived that night.

The lady as gratitude offered to the hero a good sum of money, he refused... anyway, he havent been in a shop since this reborn, the lady then asked the name of such a great here and this aswerd was:

'Im just a Nameless Warrior'

Weapons and Armor- Great axe, bear skin armor.

Role playing special insues (read background first)-

This character have not memories, neither places, neither people or countries, he ever dont know the name of the country where he is right now and neither he cares about, it is more, each time that someone tries to teach him about a name or a place, he will suffer a strong headache, he just cant remember because it is too painfull.
He isnt dumb, it is quite wise and never will start a Rage... but each time he is damaged in combat, the pain will make him remember the pain of the time that was beaten to almost death and will enrage him, so start the rage just when hurt.
This is a lonely character, he dont trust nobody, still have a strong sense of goodness and will help anyone in troubles, really dislikes goblinoids and orcs, althrought cant remember why...
Surely will join any adventure group that would need this help.

In the future, if meet good friends and become more civilizated(sp) can become a great good-doer fighter/knight; if keep the will live, prcs like Frenzied berserker it is the way to follow (you can change Iron Will feat for getting into the class prc sooner), anyway he is headed to be a frontliner because this good amount of hp and the boar totem.

The boar totem variant can be found here:

A good resource for characters as well is the Nexus' character section.

There's converted pregenerated characters as well as originals in there, so have a looksee.
