Having a few fey-ri born into Dragonlance

Welp, one of my players was reading through all my books to look at spells, and she saw the Fey-ri from FR and took a liking to them. Seeing as how we barely even have time to play one campaign, let alone two, I doubt we will be in FR anytime soon. So I got to thinking, and I think I'm going to let her play as one in Dragonlance, if something ever happens to her Black Robe.

Most of the time, I'm a stickler for Dragonlance staying Dragonlance. The things I change, I usually see as minimal and mostly dont even affect the world. Not a big fan of adding in different races from other worlds, getting rid of things that "happened", etc. But as I started thinking, I didnt really see a problem with a fey-ri being in Dragonlance because basically it is a humanoid with elven/demon ancestory. Since they aren't exactly "half-demons", I'm basically at the point where I need to come up with how she was born since it would take a few generations. I doubt it will be too hard. I didnt really think an elf with demon ancestory would be that weird. Its possible anyways, so why not let her play the specific kind she wants to.

Just was wondering if anyone else had anything like this. I really do hate importing things like races into my Dragonlance world, but I dont see this as much of a problem. Amazingly, its easy for me to import classes, prestige classes, feats, skills, spells, etc..who knows heh.

She could be descended from an Elf who had a very bad experience with a dragonorb at some point in the distant past. Perhaps a bit of that evil presence embedded itself in her bloodline. It's not a demon, but it could work.

IIRC, the 'old' explanation about how Draconians came to be was the bad guys used Abishai spirits to replace the soul of the unborn dragons (from the corrupted eggs).

Maybe they tried the process on some other races first? (elves for instance..)

In my current Eberron game, one of my player's is a Fey'ri but was born of two ordinary elves. He was conceived in the Demon Wastes, more specifically in the dungeons of a palace of a mighty demon lord. The taint of the evil which has been around since time inmemorial warped him into what is essentially a fey'ri.

It could also be a curse bestowed upon a less than ideal ancestor, sort of like Soth. And goal of the character could be to remove the curse so the family no longer needs to fear having monstrous children.

Although the Abishai angle is no longer canon, this a good anyway.

This is my favourite though.

It is easy to come up with believable reason for a Fey'ri to exist on Krynn. :D

There is certainly nothing wrong with Fey'ri in Dragonlance. Heck, even the FR origin of Fey'ri could work in dragonlance, namely an outcast clan of elves who interbred with demons.

Take the ancient Silvanesti, grab a family line, have them plot against the Caladon royal family. Then have them outcast, and accept the patronage of Sargonnas or Hiddukel. They interbreed with devils or demons, and set up a dungeon-fortress in the Lemish woods. Great war, Hellgate Keep is sealed, ready to be reopened in the Age of Mortals.

Of course, another (perhaps more authentic option) would be to involve the Fey'ri in the Cult of the Bloody Condor. These are the elves that worship Sargonnas. Breeding with devils (particularly to gain the devil's strength) would not be innappropriate.

I say make House Dlardrageth a Silvanesti House, and keep the storyline roughly the same. A few thousand years ago, a Silvanesti noble family named Dlardrageth made a bargain for power with Hiddukel, and the God of Liars responded by sending a host of demons to bear and sire half-demon Silvanesti. Speaker Sithas discovers what the Dlardrageth elves are doing, condemns the entire House to death, but a few half-demons escape, hiding in the wilderness...

...many generations later, the half-demons of House Dlardrageth are dead and gone, but their fey'ri descendents still exist, carrying out the black will of Hiddukel the Schemer. Never numerous, the fey'ri allied with the Knights of Takhisis, but were later driven to near-extinction after the theft of the world. When Malystryx came to Krynn, the few surviving fey'ri swore allegiance to the Red Marauder, and have thus survived.

--I see no reason why the planetouched can't exist on Krynn, if done in moderation NB

Well.. it will be happening now. My player's PC died tonight when we played. Was kind of sad, but it was pretty much her fault so there wasn't much I could do. One of the PC's had purchased two slaves.. and ended up giving one to her character. The slave was a defiant dwarf and when they camped for the night.. she left the slave pretty much sleeping right next to her, without really worrying about anything. The dwarf managed to silently grab the Siangham and Coup de Grace her.. and she failed the DC and instantly died.

I had already thought of the Cult of the Bloody Condor idea. That was actually the first thing I had thought of. But I think I will instead use the an old Silvanesti clan instead, just because I want it something that has happened secretly for generations.. not so much recently. Maybe she'll even want to take back Silvanesti for her clan. She's Chaotic Evil, so who knows.

I now have a Minotaur Fighter/Mystic, a Human Black Robe, a Red Dragonspawn Figher/Barbarian, and now a Fey-ri Ranger. Should make an interesting party. As you might be able to tell, Evil is prevalent in my party heh. It seems no matter what happens, my players just have a lot more fun when they can do literally whatever they want. Kind of nice though... not just evil-doers after them, but also good people like Paladins too. Its been so long since I've seen a Paladin in my party... heh

why not have the graygem involved? ... much the way the dimernesti/dargonesti were created.
