I remember going to spend the weekend with my cousins, (older by 8 years) and getting to look through their cool books with monsters as they sat around, playing D&D 1st edition as it first came out. There was a monster, I don't know what book it was in. I don't know the name of the monster. all I remember is the pose and the general descritpion of the picture. It could have been in the 1st printing of the deities and Demigods, or even something else It was a creature the size of a lion with a lion's body, and the head of an beaked bird. It wasn't a griffon, because there weren't wings, it looked like a real bad version of a owlbear. I remember the picture had more than one in it, and that if my memory serves, there were ruined columns, or rubble the forefront one was crouching on.. WHAT IS THIS FREAKING CREATURE AND WHERE DO I FIND IT???? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Extempus Date : 12-04-07 08:03 PM Thread Title : Re: Lookin for some old school monster.. You're thinking of the vulture lion, found in the Melnibonéan Mythos in the first printing of the 1e Deities & Demigods, p. 95. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 12-05-07 03:52 PM Thread Title : Re: Lookin for some old school monster.. It does have wings... and Shonuff's description of the pic he saw is right on the money, so I knew immediately that he was remembering the vulture lion... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : kipper Date : 12-06-07 06:48 AM Thread Title : Re: Lookin for some old school monster..
