I plan to send my PC from the FR setting to novaa vasaa. I read somewhere that Novaa Vasaa was coming from a FR realms, so my questions is: will my players already speak Vaasi since this realm come from toril and on toril all the humans speak commun?

That seems to be implied in most of the material out there. Bear in mind there is no "vaasi" language in Faerun, and the "nation" of Vaasa (if you can call it that) has few humans among its population. Add to the fact that Ravenloft's vaasi is spoken in all the domains whose darklords come from Faerun (Nova Vaasa, Hazlan, Kartakass, Valachan) and it seems that vaasi is basically faerun's common tongue.

Quoting from Feast of Goblyns, which takes place in Vaasi-speaking Kartakass.

The Language
The people speak a strange dialect which sounds very elven due to its musical qualities. In truth, however, this dialect is actually a variant of standard common and the PCs will be able to pick it up more quickly than most other languages. There is a base 5% chance for any player character to understand the gist of a statement or conversation. This chance increases by 1% for each day in which a PC spends more than half of his time in areas where the language is spoken.

Keep in mind that the musical qualities is a trademark of Kartakan Vaasi, and might not be a feature of the Nova Vaasan dialect.

vaasi = faerun common

But I have a question for you: does the pc come from the time that bane is dead? If so the fatc that he is still worshiped in nova vaasa will appear really odd to them(it would be entertaining).

Another question, if you don t mind guy but that have no relation with language:

I have a druid in my party, can he summon magical beast, or only animal beast that are within the domain?

And for the elf, they cannot leave when they get the age, so what happen to old elf??

Siboire! Un autre québécois! On dirait que ravenloft et darksun sont vraiment populaire au québec!

As for your question I think the druid can only summon animals from whithin the domain.

As for elves I think they simply die, like humans! If not thye become prisoners of the mist... for ever muhahaha!!!

À qui le dites vous :D

I personnaly say languages in Ravenloft are the DM prerogative. In my game, I had decided that elven in RL is elven from elsewhere thus permitting my PCs to talk with some natives.

In 3.X, elves simply die, like other humanoids.

Had that not been the case, in the Darkon entry in Gaz II, I had intended to briefly discuss the elven tradition of ritualistic suicide. Those who don't kill themselves when they feel the urge to "move on" gradually feel more and more alienated until they ultimately go mad.

Interesting.

They leave to a spiritual level instead of leaving to Evermeet or similar.

Some could "miss" this boarding and stay as mad ghosts. It could be an interesting side trek to accompany this spirit to rest.

Content de voir qu il y a d autres québécois ici!

Thanx all for the answers to my question. It happen that i have two more.

A full plate is a CL 8 item. Will it cost 1500 or 3000 gp to get a suit of plate in a CL 7 domain?

One of my players want to create a gnome crafter of magic item, will he have an easy access to his component since ravenloft is a low magic setting?

Odd. The RLCS puts the full plate at CL 7, whereas the web enhancement listing CLs for all the PHB equipment puts it at CL 8. Anyway, you multiply the price of the item with the difference in CLs, and add this to the original price, so, if you think that a full plate is a CL 8 item, you add the full price of 1500 gp, ending up on 3000 gp in a CL 7 domain.

My information came from the RLCS. Read the chapter about the CL 8, bastard sword and full plate are CL 8.
