The specifics of Dalamar's apprenticeship to Raistlin

Feb 04, 2005 9:33:40 Was it ever told how Dalamar became Raistlin's apprentice? I havent read Dalamar the Dark in a long time, but I dont ever remember it being in there. I know in Legends, it almost comes off as the Conclave "assigned" him to Raistlin, but I dont foresee Raistlin just taking anyone that the Conclave recommends.

I figure Dalamar "tried out" to be Raistlin's apprentice, with the approval of the Conclave. They had already had a talk with Dalamar and convinced him should he be chosen to be a "double agent". Raistlin ovbiously knew, but still decided he liked some qualities in Dalamar.

I guess my question is, would the Legends book due out actually cover any of this or are we still going to be in the dark as to what exactly transpired between Raistlin and Dalamar? As in, were there other ppl "trying out" and stuff like that. Sorry if this was answered in Dalamar the Dark, but I for the life of me cant remember the end of the book. I just think it'd be neat to know a little bit more about the Shalafi/Apprentice relationship between Raistlin and Dalamar. Maybe would even help PC's who decide they want to be an apprentice or something.

I'm actually more interested in the dialogue and interplay between Raistlin and Dalamar. It'd be nice to see if there were other mages who "tried out" and actually see some of the things Raistlin talked or did with Dalamar. I dunno, maybe that'd be kind of boring to most people, but I think it'd make a good read.

Thanks for the reference tho, somehow I knew somewhere there was something I was missing and was going to look like an idiot :embarrass Oh well... so I'm assuming not much In the Legends book about Dalamar's apprenticeship to Raistlin? Heh makes sense there wouldnt be if you think about it.. just sucks

Feb 09, 2005 11:16:01 I think that in the Unsung Heroes book in 2nd edition there was a character in there that was Raistlin's apprentice prior to Dalamar. I read somewhere that it was non-canonical however.
