OK well we know that the Minotaurs after they consoldate their position will be marching off to conquest, most likey first the Ogre Kingdoms, as they are the most immedate threat to their position on the mainland. Now you've got an army likey numbering over 10,000 combat trained and disciplined minotaurs VS a country of chaotic, bullying Ogres, although they have gained some sence of unity under the Titans. Pound for pound your average Ogre is stronger than your average Minotaur. The minotaurs are trained to fight and have a Lawful Evil discipline. Ogres tend to use "Big Mob" combat, just running at foes and smashing them.

So in the end, who is the mighter force? the Minotaurs, or the Ogre Kingdoms?

With Takhisis gone, the Ogres have no god to support them. The Minotaurs do.

Not only that, but Richard A. Knaak would never let his favored race be completely defeated

If a true battle, with no supernatural support, it all comes down to moral, I guess. If the Ogres could push long enough, the Minotaurs would be forced to retreat. If they could do enough damage before the Minotaur forces found a successful strategy, they might be able to stop the offensive.

I'd put my money on the minotaurs. They have the backing of Sargonnas. Their more disciplined, plus the ogres have been harried by legions of knights, the dwarves, and not to mention until recently, the forces of Sable. The minotaurs haven't faced any of that opposition, so they have a more unified front if a battle did ensue. However, since they have joined forces at least in the short term, this is all a moot point...

Not to mention that a large portion of the Ogre army was wiped out by Gold, and Silver dragons during the War of Souls.. See Chapter title "Fire and Ice"

I would also put my bet on minotaurs. The more discipline they are it will be better. If you chaotic you can easily lose your head and can't be so focuse...

Yes they are. Of course, with the end of Tides of Blood, I'm not sure if the alliance will last.

I wouldn't count the ogres out just yet... Having been fighting knights, dwarves, and the forces of Sable, the weak and stupid ogres would have been culled from the herd, leaving only the most intelligent and strong. Then you count in sheer size and strength compared to a minotaur soldier. While size and strength does not ensure victory, it is an advantage, the same as discipline is an advantage. I would say though, that the minotaurs would be more likely to win, due to the fact that they still have divine backing, where the ogres do not.

I've always felt that Ogres should be portrayed as menacing and cunning, rather than stupid. Just because they don't have an intellectual tradition, doesn't mean they don't have the intellectual resources to satisfy their lusts.

Heres a suggestion, anybody that has DL11 Dragons of Glory, take the Ogre and Minotaur counters and fight it out. The Minotaurs can start in Silvanesti, on their home islands or on thier ships. The Ogres start in their own nations.
The interesting thing is that Kern and Blode do not touch, they are seperated by Khur and Zhakar.

Let's not forget that the Ogres have Ogre Titans now as well. Personally, I'm honestly hoping that the next books to describe the Ogre Magi as having moved en mass into the civilization of the Ogres. Plus, also, Hags to be incorporated into the ogre mind.

That way, ogres have even more intelligent members than the Minotaur on average!

Of course ogres are cunning, as evidenced by the same chapter earlier stated as "Fire and Ice". The ogres outsmarted an elvish force by ambushing them when they had superior postioning, planning to utilize their skills and talents to destroy the elven force. Had it not been for the appearance of the dragons, the elves would have been obliterated.

The Minotaur legions are the better organised, better supplied, and better lead of the two. So I'll put my money on them in terms of keeping their establish beach head on Ansalon. In term of offensive power, well there is the Ogre Titans, KoN remnents, Sanction, Thoradin, and the Tarmak in the Eastern Plains of Dust to potentially hinder any major Minotuar expansion.
That of course is just in the southeast of Ansalon. The Imperium has a smaller power base in the Northeast on the Kern peninsula, which could be threatened by the Draconians of Tyre and not to mention the two minor dragon overlords in the region.
No matter how good you are, only a fool tries to fight on two fronts.
