A lot of funny, weird and strange thing happen during a DL game, I d like to read your s.
in my game, one player ( the big strategy thinker kinda player) ask a very usless question to the oracle. No other players wanted to ask question to the oracle , thinking it was some kind of trap.
So the player think for a perfect question ( take about 10 ,min).Say to the oracles : i m ready to ask my question.
the oracles : go ahead for one question
player: can i talk about the question with my friends ( other player)
oracles: yes, now you must accomplish one task for us......

HEre go Baltasar the prest of Kirijolith whit one question useless question that make everyone laught

Heh heh, I had some fun with the Oracles. Most of the group was dead set against asking the Oracles any questions, except for one character in particular. They tried to talk her out of it, but I interceeded and told them it was her decision, let her make it (she was playing her character, and wanted to know what became of her kender friend that went missing). She also asked a question pertaining to 'the key'. Long story short, they found her friend among the kender inside the peak, and he was killed shortly afterward by a fetch. They went back to the oracles after beating the bosses, and returned the staff as part of the agreement for the second question. They then requested assistance with bringing her kender friend back to life. The oracles agreed to help, but for a price (listed some random treasure from the "Heart of Nightfang Spire" mini adventure. This tied in well to the valuable object they request for a third question anyway. Good times.

By the way, to anyone reading this, if you tone down 'Heart of Nightfang Spire' and adjust the CR for the monsters, it fits in perfectly as a random adventure/side plot after the Peak of Malys. (you'd really need to tweak this, as the adventure was written for 10th lvl characters, and even as such, one of the very first encounters could easily decimate even a 10th level party.)

Nice way of making your players think before they speak though. That's pretty funny. I don't recall seeing you post on the boards before, and if this is your first post (judging from your join date) then welcome aboard!

The good one for my group came from one character's background. He's a half-elf ranger who was helping the Qualinesti escape when Beryl attacked. He's in one of the underground tunnels, when it collapses, trapping him underground for many hours. He developed a strong sense of claustrophobia from that.

So, we get into the first chapter of KoD and get to the sewers of Pashin. Everyone is going into the sewers to escape the Dark Knights, save for the ranger. He just stops, and my friend's eyes popped right open.

The swashbuckler in the group decides to knock him out. We pull him underground, and when he wakes up, he's paralyzed. I gave him a negative to just about everything due to his phobia. At the point where you see the elven symbol and head even further down, he was paralyzed with fear again. Again, he was knocked out.

The dice were really with us that night. They seemed to help accent the story.

What I loved was that we had put this phobia in place as part of his background, and it actually came into play in the very first adventure of the module proper. How cool is that?

Did you rule this as a Flaw like in Unearthed Arcana? And give him a free feat for it? I mean if you're going to penalize him rule-wise you might as well make up for that somehow to balance it out.

This was'nt a KoD Highlight but in my DL home game the players ran across a Magmin (you know a dwarf-sized muslebound ball of fire?) and the creature was clearly insane. It started heading toward them and they actually decided to try to talk instead of fight. Unfortunately the magmin was just trying to get close to them as it babbled incoherently. Of course as it drew near the players clothes started to burst into flame and they started taking heat damage from the heat radiating from the creature. So the ranger decides that if you want to fight fire you have to use water. So he told everyone to pull out their waterskins and defend themselves. The ranger pulled out his own waterskin while everyone else sort of just backed up and gave the ranger weird looks. When the Magmin came within 5 feet the ranger he squirted a thin stream of water that mostly evaporated as it hit the magmin and it finally hit the creature in the eye. When that happened the Magmin went nuts and ran away. Everyone laughed at the ranger, but he had proved his point. :D

I hadn't done that, but I was thinking about it today. Granted, he also has the ability to see spirits (something else from his background), so in a way, it already balances out.

Actually if I remember right, it takes two flaws in order to get one feat. Two flaws prevents a lot of people wanting to take them and try to powerpack, although I'm sure your player isnt trying to do that.

Actually it's one flaw gets you one feat. But you may select up to two flaws at first level. But feats are usually much more severe than a feat because you'll usually pick a flaw that will not hinder you as much and then turn around and pick a feat that will benifit you greatly.
