You guys have done an amazing job with Dark Sun and you obviously care about the material as much as us fans. Please make use of the OGL, acquire the rights like Sovereign Press did with Dragonlance, like White Wolf did with Ravenloft, and please publish Dark Sun as a nice, thick, glossy, hardbound core rule book, with a slew of supplements to follow. I guarantee you sales from a wide audience. :invasion: see? the start of a fan base here.

The problem is that we too are fans. We don't have the money to purchase anything from WotC.

I have $3. Would that help?

It's a bit more complicated than that, and it's not like we're not trying.

Indeed it is, and Wizards isn't making it especially easy, I would imagine. They want to hold on to licenses, would be my guess, "just in case." Prying them from Wiz's fingers will not be an easy task even if you have a LOT of money (which I don't). Personally, I like getting my books for free, so Athas.org is fine by me.

I assure you Athas.org are as much fans themselves as the rest of us.

Please make use of the OGL...

Even if they put out OGL stuff, it would be stripped of all identifiable Athasian goodness. Wiped Clean, sterile. I would find if believable that there is very strong likelihood that if Athas.org messes up and puts into OGC what WotC considers PI that there could be... :headexplo

Frankly, I like my rules with flavorfulness integrated with the crunch. But that is me...

...acquire the rights like Sovereign Press did with Dragonlance, like White Wolf did with Ravenloft, and please publish Dark Sun as a nice, thick, glossy, hardbound core rule book, with a slew of supplements to follow. Could Athas.org come to you to back up your guarantee of sales enough to cover the costs it takes to acquire a WotC license today? The costs (and other strings) have changed since your examples.

We already tried this. Only like 800 people signed the petition. It'll never happen. Free stuff is better, anyway.

It took me no time or effort out of my day, and I'm not not embarrassed. Oh well. Had to try.

That's just my signature, bud. It's not directed at you. :D
