Our group is pretty close to completing the Key of Destiny & our DM (who is also my boyfriend) is keen as mustard to get Spectre of Sorrows so we can crack in to that too.

I'm going to pre-order it, and told him he can run a home brew adventure while we wait for it to arrive. He said no probs, but would like some idea as to WHERE in Krynn it is set/starts so he can plan his home brew so that we end up near the place we need to start SOS at (if you follow me).

Any idea what town it begins in so I can let him know?

There is a Sneak Preview at http://www.dragonlance.com/products/enhancements/10013.aspx
This could prove useful for him as a DM.

The Peak of Malys, right where Key of Destiny leaves off.

I'm running the miniadventure, "Heart of Nightfang Spire" to kill some downtime between the books, and to keep my group in the general vicinity of the desolation. It actually plays into the region rather well, given that it's supposed to be placed in a desolate area, with rocky terrain. Just a suggestion...

Thanks, he actually ran us though that adventure in our last campaign (which was in his homebrewed world) though. I pointed him towards the "preview" i.e first chapter that's on the dragonlance.com site, he's printed it out & we'll run through that until the full adventure comes out.

Another suggestion is possibly running the "Lyceum" mini adventure in the WotL sourcebook. Given, you'd have to modify it since Tak is no longer around (amongst other things), but it's something you might be able to work with to keep your party in the desolation for a few more weeks until SoS comes out.
