There's a similar discussion on the Eberron board, and it led me to wonder...

What older modules are easily adaptable to Dark Sun? Clearly most dungeoncrawl modules don't work, but many city modules would.

Anyone had any luck adapting stuff?

I had a bit of a go at converting U1/U2/U3 to Darksun, even though they're set in a coastal fishing village, and the bad guys are aquatic lizardmen and Sahuagin!

I ended up having the haunted house still being the remains of an old coastal house from the Green Age, the Lizard-Men were... uh... can't remember. But the Sahuagin were going to be Dray, as a foreshadowing of City By The Silt Sea.

The illithid module series that Bruce Cordell wrote wasn't bad. I ran it as an adventure on the other side of the silt sea. It needed some alterations here and there but fit DS nicely.

I have plans to do something similar with U1/U2/U3, although I was going to use ssurran instead of lizardmen and set it on the shoes of the Sea of Silt ("The Sinister Secret of Siltmarsh"...)

I have run the "Desert of Desolation" trilogy with great success in the DS setting (I3, I4, I5). Amun-Re was an undead monarch of some description, I made the efreet and the djinn into powerful elementals and changed Martek into Teklunard, a long-dead avangion. It was loads of fun. I also had some rather nasty plans to include the old "Tomb of Horrors" but haven't quite nailed all the details on that one yet :D.

Do you need details for "Tomb of Horrors"? :D

"We go in."

"You all die horribly."

I ran the old Ravenloft adventure Circle of Darkness. The setting was close enough to Athas that I had to change little. I set it up as a city-state on the far side of the world. But on second glance, it would have easy to set the adventure in the ravenloft version of Kalid-Ma.

Also for one campaign I covered the Against the Giant series of adventures, but the campaign ended before we could play it. It was going to be set near Balic after the pennisula was over run by the giants. The different giant lairs were going to be set in various islands in the silt sea.

I am sure there are others, but those are the two I can remember right now.
