Hello,

Ah, my beloved Lendore Isles!
I don’t know why, but even without ever having played there (well, I hijacked the L1 module for Ravenloft ), they are kind of my favourite refugium on Oerth, and I’d like to know more about them...
- Well, I’ve checked LZs marvellous and I have collected all the FREE parts of the series, but although I just would read them as novels, I am curious about what else is out there.
As far as I understand, Lendore is as much an imported game setting as Blackmoor was; now, what was the original setting for the isles? Wilderlands, or something else?
And what is currently going on there? –I believe the last offical notes were from the LGG and Song and Silence? But has the situation changed since 591 CY?
And, if the Isles existed, like Blackmoor, as another antique game setting, was there maybe some original D&D material released?

Cheers,

Rafael

I promised to stitch together a gazeteer entry on Lendore for Braggi but I'm currently just finishing off Zeif. I think there are a few posts or articles on Canonfire about Lendore and the Gate of Glass? Other than that, it's just pretty much the modules and the official LGG entry.

Still, something must be going on there...

AFAIK, the Lendore Isles are not even part of LG... *That's that Blackmoor syndrome...* But I think the plot is quite interesting... Some time in the future, they will be my campaign ground for sure...

But, Paul, of course you understand that, once having finished you Gazzetteers, you must send them directly to my email adress... ;) I recall you telling about that *enormous*project a while ago. How's it going on? :whatsthis

Don't ask - I've had problems with my scanner i.e. it stopped working, and I can't face typing everything freehand, so it's slowed me down quite a bit.

I should finish off Zeif by the end of the month and I still can't translate Ekbir from its native French so I'll have to move on to another part of the Flanaess. Keoland is tempting, I think I'll save Geoff and Sterich for later, and of course I'm revisiting Lendore for Braggi, although his campaign will be finished by the time I'm done!

I think I'll be retired before I finish it all sadly. But I'm still plugging away.

:D The people of the year 2045 will also be in need of a good gazzetteer of the Flanaess!

2045 might be a bit optimistic.

The isles, and the Suel pantheon, came from Len Lakofka's personal campaign (which explains why there are so many sea gods in a pantheon that supposedly developed in the land-locked Suel Basin). I don't think he ever published anything apart from the L series, but there may be some tidbits in the Greytalk archives. He posted his character Leomund's 2e statistics to the AOL Greyhawk message boards, when they existed.

Thank you, RVW.
I'll check the web if I can find something in that direction...
Would be too funny if the Lendore Isles were also part of the Wilderlands...

*Plotting a campaign there*

I've had a chance to review the official and unofficial info on the old Spindrift Islands now. There's a lot of potential there. It looks like the northern islands have always had one foot in the fading lands while the southern island has six towns (many now largely abandoned?), plus Lo Reltarma, and the City of Glass, various humanoid lairs, and an abandoned dwarven mine.

There is even supposition that the clerics of sehanine are ultiately seeking to transport the whole island chain into a fading realm much the same as Tolkien's elves sailed off to the west. Incidentally, the elven realm of Miranda is cited as an eastern elvern colony, now home to the five elven wizards who used to rule the northern islands.

Where do you have the info from?

*Wanna have it too*

nmaD, doesn't anyone know how to contact Len Lakofka?

Actually, it appears the former Suel Imperium had an extensive sea line, judging by my map of Oerik. So a bit of retro-active continuity doesn't seen that bad.

Info comes from LGG Gazeteer, Canonfire Gazeteer Addendum, Canonfire (or Oerth Journal?) article on Celene, L1-3, Highwayman module on WoG, the official WoG supplements from 70's & 80's, various searches for Lendore, Spndrift, Gate of Glass etc on Greytalk and other sites.

Trust me, it aint gonna be easy stitching it all together, especially since a lot of the information is outdated by recent events.

I believe he used to go by Leomund (at) aol (dot) com. Check the Greytalk archives...

*Copied the email adress*

I'll try to contact Len then, but before that, I'll prepare a pretty nice interview and then present the results here.

Thank you very much, Thanael!

Sorry! I meant WotC not WoG. It's on the Wizards of the Cost site. I downloaded it but haven't really read it yet. I'm still working through Bone Hill

But now what's exactly the Highwayman module? _Could it be that I missed something?

Can you provide us with a link, please?

*Really thinking that I never downloaded something going by that name.*

May be useful for the others, however...

I've also noticed that the entire human population of Lendore Isle is only 410 now, so I guess the populations of Restenford, Garotten, and Lo Reltarma must be a tiny compared to what they were (although we can add a few sympathetic half elves as well).

We can assume that the other 4 towns are pretty much deserted (to save us having to work out any details!)

I will have my work cut out for me trying to work out the current political status quo. Hey ho.

P.S. Is there any canon on Lo Reltarma anywhere?

TINY may be a bit too friendly...

As far as I knoiw, there's no canon source for L R... Check the Zavodian Greyhawk Bible...

Ah yes, I spotted that thread, which is why I have more information on the City of Glass than Lo Reltarma!

I found a few references to old Dragon mags in the Encyclopedia Greyhawkia. My bro has 65, so I can check out what that says, but does anybody have any idea how much info was in 86 p32 & 88 p11?

Also one text says Lendore (wz36 is mentioned or perhaps Wz21, ArM5, LorM10?) has sort of magic jarred into the city's libaray while another source says he returned as a planetar. I suppose I could merge the two so his essence in in the Library of shards and if he manifests, he has the form and physical stats of a planetar? Anyone got any better ideas?
