this may be a stupid question, but I've reread the books over and over nd things are just not sinking in. I'm developing BBEG that is a corrupt knight of the sword. I've designed him where he has corrupted his honor as a 4th level sword knight, but he is actually level 8. when he increases in level from 4-8, does he continue picking up levels at a sword knight, without the supernatural abilities, or does he pick up levels in cleric and/or fighter(his base classes), or does he instantly become a rogue knight when he breaks his honor? the whole point of the encounter is similar to Huma's uncle(rennard?). where no one in the knighthood knows he has been corrupted. for whatever reason i was under the assumption that unless one is "outed" he wouldn't necessarily become a rogue knight as the prc states that these are ex knights, yet my guy is still operating as a sword knight. of course the argument can be made that as soon as he breaks his oath he is typically an ex KoS, though no one knows it. would he lose all abilities of a sword knight, or just the supernatural ones? any help is welcome.

You can't advance any further when you lose your Knight of the crown abilities, you keep all of your Knight of the Crown abilities though since they're not supernatural in nature. Any supernatural abilities he might have had as a Sword Knight are removed though when you break your honorable code and no longer are Good.

Take note that most Knights of Solamnia are just Fighters so the Knight of the Sword Title could just be ceremonial.

Remember that a character doesn't have to have levels in the Knight of the Sword to be a Knight of the Sword.

I know, it doesn't sound like it makes a lot of sense. Basically, you don't need levels in the prestige class to be a member of the organization.

In world terms, one knight isn't going to look at another and say, "Aha! You do not have levels as a Knight of the Sword!"

Instead, one knight will simply see another knight, although he may have some suspicions about his character.

So he could have just fighter levels, or perhaps even take a level of rogue. Rogue knight may fit your character too.
