I suspect I already know the answer to this, but I thought I'd ask some of the Greyhawkers anyway. In a sidebar in the Fochlucann Lyrisist prestige class in Complete Adventurer, it gives the location of the college on a lake near a town called Oakenway (Oaken something anyway). I couldn't find any reference to Oakenway in any of my Greyhawk stuff, although to the Foclucann college is mentioned in the 1st ed. Player's Handbook in the bard entry, so the college seems to be Greyhawk.

My question is: Is Fochlucann college Greyhawk? Is the town of Oakenway Greyhawk?

My question is: Is Fochlucann college Greyhawk? Is the town of Oakenway Greyhawk?

Fochlucan college is definetly Greyhawk, I don't have 1e to back up but OJ15 as a great article on Old Faith Bard as well as where are the 8 bardic college (Fochlucan, MacFuirmidh, Doss, Canaith, Cli, Anstruth, Ollamh, and Magna
Alumnae).

As for Oakenway, I'd say there's no tie to Greyhawk, as Complete adventurer was the least greyhawkian complete book produced, but you still can fit the town in your own campain if you wish.

For your info, here's the locatioon of the bardic college as per OJ15:

Fochlucan: Gnarley Wood
MacFuirmidh: Blackmoor
Doss: Gran Duchy of Geoff, SW of Gorna
Canaith: Western edge of the Adri Forest
Cli: Nestled in among the Hollow Highlands east of Naerie
Anstruth: Northwestern verge of the Celadon Forest
Ollamh: Where the Griff and Corusk Mountains meet, just off the Kelten-Bluefang Pass
Magna Alumnae: A large park-reserve in the oldest part of Nevond

The bardic colleges mentioned in the original PH and DMG were associated with the World of Greyhawk, but at that point the setting's familiar geography hadn't appeared, and Gary Gygax never tied the colleges strongly and in detail to Oerth. But Paul Stormberg does good work and his article in Oerth Journal #15 is reasonable and as authoritative as anything we're likely to get.

Note that the FR and other 1e campaign worlds also have those colleges in existance....

The placement in Complete Adventurer is just generic with no ties to any campaign setting as far as I know.

for placement in Greyhawk I would suggest using the OJ15 guidelines that the previous posters have noted above.
