--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone, this is my first time on the Message Board for D&D, but ive been playing for awhile. I've started making a very large and difficult quest inspired by Dragonlance and with some stuff from arms and equipment guide. Unfortunately, its kinda of . . . vague. i've got the NPCs down, the items, even some cutscenes (lol) but if anyone wants to pitch in, that would be great.

Here's the basic outline/layout (samething) for my quest, there is no title.

PCs
Eldar (rogue5 or 4)
Fernos (warmage4cleric2, yes i ripped the name off from complete arcane)
Emma (Druid 6)
vulcar (ranger6)

NPCs (allies; mortals)
Palin Majere
Tanin Majere
Sturm Majere
Tasslehoff Burrfoot
Dalamaar the Dark
Gilthas solostran
Paladine
Flint fireforge

NPCs (allies; gods, yes, i have a huge god-related cutscene/plot twist)
Corellon Larethian (OR Larethian corellon, whatever)
mishakaal
reorx
Kord
Heironeous
Yondalla

NPCs (enemies; mortals)
The dragon highlords (cant remember names, one of them is the main "villain" though, havent decided which)
Orcs (lotsa orcs, hehe)
demons, devils, fiends; the works

NPCs (enemies; gods)
takhisis
Vecna
Wee jas
Nerull
erythnuul
gruumsh
hextor

Story

Fernos (NPC possibly) and ______ have just joined the league of boot and trail. From this abundant source of lore the learn that Palanthas has been attacked by dragons. . .which have not been seen anywhere on the planet for hundreds of years. This is a sign that a more powerful evil has returned to the land. In response to this Dark news, ______and Fernos set off to reunite the races of good (eventually) again to fight this great shadow that now looms over everyone. they travel to Fernos' homeland of Qualinesti to request the aid of the Qualinesti elves and help patch a rift between them and their sivanesti brethren that stretches back to the kinslayer wars. After a while they do and even more later (bad grammar, hehe) the unite the races of good into one of the most powerful forces ever seen. Even the angels - celestial warriors of good - have joined them in battle to help vanquish the hundreds of demons and devils that accompany the growing forces of darkness. even later, the good dragons also return (to help create one of the greatest battles in the history of the game ((for me)). When the two armies finally meet on the field of battle, the forces of good falter under the immense power of the evil army and they must retreat to lick their wounds. They realize their is only one way to defeat this enemy; at the source. _______and Fernos, accompanied by some NPCs for good measure make their way into the fortress of the highlords where they learn of the highlords' plans to bring ALL of the gods of evil to the material plane to wreak havoc. they seek out the Highlord (the HIGH HIGHLORD) and find him (naturally) in a very large room near the top of the castle (im working on that part). *Fernos boldly engages him in combat . . .but can do little against the awesome power that he now posses, the Regalia of Evil (all of them, along with some other power evil stuff). Fernos charges forward brandishing sword and spell in a courageous attempt to destroy the highlord. As he is about to run him through with his sword, which is glowing with magical empowerment, the highlord turns fernos' blade upon him and effectively has fernos kill himself, leaving his corpse in a puddle of blood and blade on the floor. Eldar still lives and prepares himself to avenge fernos and save the entire world (SO MUCH PRESSURE, hehe) . Just as the highlord turns his attention to Eldar, Fernos' body disintergrates and a Solar Angel (elven features, angels are a little different in my version) bursts through the ceiling, wings flared, wearing the REGALIA OF GOOD and weilding a SWORD OF THE SOLARS as well as some new armor (under construction). The angel looks like fernos, facially, other than that he is completely different, he also looks really ****** off. he soars at highlord (seemingly) but then makes a VERY sudden turn and lands in front of eldar, facing him (eldar is chaotic neutral and Fernos is CG and is still CG as an angel and Emma the druid would be cg or ng or something good.) An aura of grace and divinity seem to radiate from Fernos. His hands then shoots out, plunging into Eldar's (or emma's) chest and ripping out his heart (literally, lol) instantly slaying him.

Gods of neutrality cutscene.

and then i am gonna improvise or make it myself, but i thought i might need some help with that part of it.
any thing anyone would like to offer (advice etc,.) would be great, thanks.

i know this looks like just one quest, but it opens up for a lot more adventuring opportunities later on. By the time this quest gets finished, they will be angels and inevitables or something neutral. But i guess i didnt describe it well enough as a campaign. Here are some basic guidelines to my Campaign.

maps: refer to the front pages of most Dragonlance books. (im using krynn as my basis, none of my players read DL so it gives me an edge.)

New races: kender, all the different dwarves, I.E. hill, mountain, gully etc. Silvanesti and Qualinesti elves. Draconians. there are a few more, but i cant remember them yet.

Restricted races: halfings. they have been replaced by Kender.

New classes (or class variants): 3 orders of magic , red robes, white and black. Knight of Solamnia . Knight of tahkisis. Dragonrider.

Money: Steel pieces (for all you non-dragonlance readers, steel is more valuable than gold becuase in the post-catlysmic world in which wars are frequent, weapons are needed more than gold. other than Gp to Sp, every thing else with money is the same.)

hehe DDR. lol

thanks for the help with the gods. I know that some of those aren't for Krynn (I've read all of the main story DL books, and am on the 4th meetings sextet, can't find it though.)

I added the non-DL gods because im not actually using the DLCS, im mixing it with normal D&D and also, Fernos is a 4/2 warmage/cleric or Corellon Larethian, so it would be disruptive to the game to change all the gods, but i will add some more Krynnish gods to it if I play this campaign consistently. Which i probably will. About the orcs, well, I'm the DM and I usually put orcs in my game, my players like it so if I tweak Krynn a little what's wrong with that? and thanks for the list of neutral gods. I was having a little problem with that, all the DL books ive read belong to my science teacher, so i dont always have them.

Right, well after the obvious changes or additions to my campaign to make it more Dragonlance-ish, I am also trying to mix it with normal D&D because my players agree that it would be easier for all of us and it would be more fun overall. Sure, the maps, races, classes (new ones) and some other stuff will be D&D, but I'm really just adding ansalon to my material plane as a new continent that my players have yet to discover (they arent big on exploring.)

Changes.
A) There are no Sorcerers native to Ansalon, so the only ones to be found are ones who are in ansalon from other continents. Also, sorcery is considered illegal magic in Ansalon (my version of it); See Complete Arcane, Chapter 7, pages 172 to 174.

B) Not as many half-elves in Ansalon, although that doesnt mean there arent any (tanthalas, dur)

C) All arcane spellcasters even non-wizards (exceptions being sorcerers and warlocks or wujen- which wont be in the game; wu jen) Must align themselves with one of the three orders or be deemed a gray robe or an illegitamte magic user and arrested and punished at the discretion of the three orders of magic.

D) All non-native spell casters that must align themselves are required to take "tests" appropriate for their specific class, I.E. A combat spell test for a warmage or a musical test for a bard.

E) Orcs are now in Ansalon. Don't ask, I just like orcs in my games. lets just say the immigrated from another continent on my material plane. Hehe

F) there are also less dragons, but there are dragons and they are slightly different from the dragons given in the Monster manual. same colors or metals though. Yeah, stats are coming soon.

G)Another new class will be Knight. I always thought paladin was similar to it, but I also believe knight should be a class. and titles can be added to the general class Knight. Obviously Knight of the Crown or Rose or Lily or the other orders of the knights of Solamnia/Tahkisis. :fight!:

H) Not quite there yet, lol

go torcia, go torcia, go!

Other than the aforementioned changes, and the krynnification of this part of my material plane (unnamed so far, i should work on that, or maybe i should name my campaign, whatever) everything else is by the standard D&D rules. If anybody would like to suggest some different changes that might be beneficial (or just make the game better or more fun or more sense making) please do.

Also, any suggestions to the quest in my first post, or just advice on a campaign that combines both DLCS (or my messed up homebrew version) and normal D&D 3.5 would be appreciated, because i am hoping to have this whole thing ready by the time i go to camp, because i have another group their and we play all month, so i like to be prepared. so, im hoping by june 21st i'll be ready, but anything can happen. Also, to the 80 something people that have viewed this, thanks, at least i know people are reading, albeit, not responding, but oh well. I have a team of experts to help me at home (my books, lol)

Seriously? You've made so many modifications that it's hard to offer any solid advice. And you seem to know what you're doing anyway. But it does look interesting.

Thanks, I guess your right, i know what im doing, but if anyone wants to add to it or well, no add to it was the only one i could think of. im working on making ansalon part of the world, and i think i put it in my last post, but ansalon is just another continent on my planet. so, i think my players will somehow end up on a boat and they get shipwrecked on Ansalon for awhile. so, after i decided to do that, i realized ansalon is very different even with the addition of normal rules of D&D and me not owning the DLCS book. so ive started making my own DL players handbook on my laptop (no internet, its a horrible machine only good for typing) and im trying to decide if Knight of solamnia and Takhisis should be Prestige classes or base classes. What do you think?

hey, jonesy, my dad's company is based out of finland. finland rules. United Paper mills Kymmenne or kymenne or whatever (UPMK)

UPM-Kymmene Oyj. I have friends who work there.

Prestige classes are always easier to make than base classes. Just IMO.

Back to my campaign. I have decided- after reading a thread about kender puches and learning about the handler class- that the handler class will be available in my campaign. I'm am undecided on whether it will be kender only. Spealing of the subconciously klepto prone critters, here is the game rule info for them in my campaign.

Languages, automatic, common.
Bonus: any
Base speed: 30 feet or 25, their fast.
darkvision, 30 feet.
+2 dexterity
+2 charisma
-2 strength
automatic proficiency and weapon focus with the Hoopak
proficient with all small projectile weapons, short swords, daggers and appropriately sized longswords. also, proficient with anything halfling automatically are.
Multiclass kender that take on the handler class take no XP bonus for that class.

I guess that my question is, "Why are you re-inventing the Wheel?"

Sovereign Press has already done all the work you are doing. Kender are done. the Knights ARE Prestige Classes already, and Magic and the Gods are done as well.

I can understand wanting to add your own twist and flare. There is nothing wrong with that, as most here will agree. But it appears that you are trying to write the Dragonlance game all over again. My suggestion, use what they have already created for you and tweek what you need. Trust me when I say that this will save you a lot of unnecessary work and headaches.

thanks hatrel. I did not know about those sites or sovereign press. I posted that i made the knights prestige because i originally planned on making it a base class. kender i added in because . . .um . . .well . . .yeah. You just need to have kender, they're essential to any campaign. thanks though. I will all this in mind as i continue to make my campaign (yeah, i like doing it the hard way. its more fun and i can f*** around with it alot)
