On the spelljammer forum page, I've been brainstorming on a scifi/fantasy version of spelljammer-pretty much have the prime being like our mundane universe, i.e. glaaxies and stars and planets. All the worlds developed, some high magic some low, some developed high technology and others stumbled along the way. The end result is a galaxy spanning empire ruled by dragons. I've planned a few episodes( how I write my games) with the party dealing with the empires 5,000 yr war with planar incursions.
That's led me here. I want to start with a few planeswalkers combining the standard planar culture with this simple concept: planescape 2nd, and the 3.5 being written by planewalker.com are set in a culture that is more or less in a medieval/reniessance(sp) technological level. How would the planes, the factions, and Sigil change as the Tech level of the populous advance. and how would the powers deal with a cultural situation on the Prime, where a galaxy spanning Church has unified the populations by combining the millions of gods worshiped by hundreds of thousands of worlds into 12 archetypes called The Deitypes: the father, the mother, the judge, the magus, the trickster, the destroyer, the warrior, the smith, the merchant, the stormlord, the lover, the reaper. the Unification church teaches that al gods are just compiled aspects of these 12 true gods....and as they have divine power this idea seems to be working.

So any help? Faction changes as the culture of the Planes and the Prime advances? How will the planes appear as civilization advances?

I don't think the Renaissance has much to offer technology wise that can't already be accomplished with magic in the planes. The only thing I can see is more widespread use of firearms, but I think that PS is well-equipped to deal with such a change. A mortal with a handgunne still is meat if a Marilith says so.

This seems like a valid idea for a faction, and I think that they could easily be fit into the kriegstanz if you're doing Pre-FW. I'm not an expert on post-FW Sigilian politics, so I'll let our resident dogface speak for that. After all, she did write most of it.

Oh, yeah...... .....This is almost certainly gonna wreak utter havoc on the Athar, for one thing....they all wake up one morning to find themselves all *completely* without any powers, as if the Great Unknown had.........well, ceased to exist, as it were.
