Hmm, I don't think that's quite correct:

It originated around the concept of Blackmoor, a mysterious land filled with relics of the past in the form of highly advanced technology mingled with sword and sorcery; the Blackmoor concept evolved into the Known World, which was expanded upon in various D&D modules and sources.

Was the first reference to things that would eventually be the Known World really in Blackmoor or is it the other way around? I always thought it started with Threshold in the Basic Set and then the Grand Duchy of Karameikos in the Expert Set, which had no Blackmoor connection, and then Blackmoor was officially made part of its past with DA1. But it just occurred to me that I'm thinking of the blue box/red box Basic and Expert sets (with Elmore art), and I don't recall if the originals (with the ugly art) had any setting info at all - so it might have actually originated in the modules. Can somebody clear this up before I edit the page?

I think that Blackmoor is one of the first world builded for D&D with Greyhawk (not sure wich come first, though). I think Dave Arneson created Blackmoor and Gary Gygax Greyhawk.

What I am sure of, is that when the basic/expert/companion/master sets series was released, the known world was building up with Treshold and the map from X1.

Later the adventures into Blackmmor series were published, a "return" to this "old" world.

Please correct me...

That's correct. The early Blackmoor setting was a standalone setting, the second incarnation was linked (retrofitted) to the Known World, and the current one is once more standalone.

Ok, I've added a section to the Blackmoor page describing the DA modules, and then made small edits to the Mystara and Dungeons and Dragons pages to say "Blackmoor was added to this setting" rather than "This setting grew out of Blackmoor".

This could definitely use some more expansion!

The complication here is when Mystara became Mystara. I would say that Mystara grew from The Known World setting, rather than from Blackmoor, although Blackmoor was interwoven into Mystara's past at an early stage. Mystara's evolution is a complex one!

Blackmoor was indeed created by Dave Arneson. It was created long before D&D. The first D&D supplement was named Greyhawk after Gary Gygax's campaign, though it had no info about the setting. Supplement II, named Blackmoor had at least a few tidbits about that setting.

A region of Greyhawk was later named Blackmoor as a tribute to Dave or something like that, but Blackmoor was hardly created to be part of GH.

TSR (Bruce Heard, anyways) had plans for making Blackmoor even more integrated with Mystara when the entire Mystara line was discontinued. Blackmoor now exists as a separate D20 campaign setting, but it is easy to use this for fleshing out Mystara's past, or detailing a Blackmoor realm within the Hollow World.

Anyways, cool having Mystara in the Wiki-pedia!
