What does a kank look like, exactly?

No people, I’m not asking for somebody to post a description. I know that they basically look like giant ants. Instead, what I’m looking for is a picture of one. I’ve run a few Google image searches for kanks (hoping to find one that might’ve been posted on a Dark sun resources site, or something), but come up empty-handed. I’m hoping that some of you might be able to post a picture so I can get a proper image of what they really look like (no pun intended). Possibly by scanning a picture of a kank (provided it’s legal) from ye olde AD&D tomes of lore, perhaps? Or maybe some of you with artistic skill might whip up a really fundamental sketch, scan that in, and post it here (damn, it sounds like I’m asking a *lot* by writing those words). Of course, the most obvious way would be to post an image’s URL from a site that hosts an image of what the lil’ buggars look like, but given my inability to track down any kank images already, I’m not sure if there *is* one. Nevertheless, I’d be endlessly grateful for anybody who can show me, visually, what these guys look like. ^-^; Thanks in advance!
By the way, if you’re in need of instant image hosting, you can always try the following sites:

That's a "neo-kank". Kanks used to have a different, less spidery, look before. Just to add to the confusion.

It is actually the picture for the Wild Kank entry in "Terrors of the Desert".

Besides the differentiation into wild and domestic strains, there were three different visual interpretations of the kank (as there were with several athasian creatures) - those drawn by Brom, those drawn by Baxa and those shown in the revised boxed set. The one shown above is by Baxa. Elonarc, you might be thinking of Brom's kanks, which feature in the old Wanderer's Journal - they have a much less insectoid appearance than Baxa's. The kanks from the revised boxed set are different again (much more angular) but have more in common with Baxa's interpretation than with Brom's.

I used to have a pic of them up on my website, but must have taken it down to make room for the newer ones. Anyone have that older pic of a kank anywhere? I'll check my files over here.

A kank is a kank, no mather what you want them to look like. There even a version of a 10 leggeg kank in the old Dark sun player book in the equipement section.
It's like the mekilot and Boris. Depend on the book and the artist. Even Brom made three different version of the Dragon. For my campaign, the Dragon (Borys) look like the one on the cover of Valley of dust and fire. The dragon depicted in the wanderer journal is the Shadow-king and the dragon on Dragon-king book will be Kalak when I will bring him back to life in my campaign.

Kank Picture

That's the way I play it, too. Always thought of Valley of Dust and Fire as Borys.

That's odd, I don't remember being considered an artist. :P Thanks for the compliament either way, Dawn. ;) And thanks go to everybody else for kindly providing me with images of a Kank. ^_^; How about an Erdlu? It recently struck my curiousity to know what they look like; only this time, I've no idea what an Erdlu looks like at all. o_0; I've heard they're an avian animal... could somebody provide another picture of this lil' critter? Thanks for your help so far! ^_~;

PS: In case some of you are wondering why I'm being so persistant in getting images of Dark sun wildlife, let's just say I'm currently working on a pretty heavy-duty project involving ye olde DOS game, Shattered Lands. ^-^; For anybody who remembers SSI's old and hideously-addictive RPG set in Dark Sun, I'm bringing it to 3rd edition with the same graphics, sounds and music; but I'm also gonna be working on a few appearance types of my own, some of which involve the aforementioned wildlife (I'm gonna have to make 'em pixelized or something so they fit into the graphics environment and don't look like something from a completely different game)

Hmm... I forgot to look around. Thanks for the direction, I think I'll do that. :D Peace out, and may Dark Sun forever live on! (Does anybody else here agree with me that Dark Sun is *the* most underrated and least acknowledged campaign setting on the market?? >_< IMHO, it's the most original thing I've ever seen from D&D, a world where unabashed clichés run rampant.)

If you can draw recognizable images and have a personal style; you are an artist... don't be afraid to call yourself one. ;)

Yes, but one of the things that comes with being able to draw is that you must call yourself an artiste. It's much more impressive that way. ;)
