I am in the middle of doing a 3.5 write up for the adventure Black Flames and I am working on the beginning parts (the random encounters that the PCs come across) and while I was checking the stats for the belgoi in the Terrors of Athas, I noticed that in this present incarnation that they have a Stength draining ability whereas before, in 2nd edition, they had a Constitution drain.

I was just curious as to the thought process behind that switch.

Thanks!

Hmm - good question. The belgoi is an old conversion from before my time with the Bureau. Nyt, are you in the area to take this one ?

The difference may come down to this:

In 3e, draining strength, dex, int, wis, cha are all paralyzing when it hits 0. Con, however, when it hits zero, means you're dead. (DMG3.5 289) So, con draining is more powerful than the draining for any other stat.

That is pretty much what I figured.

Thanks!
