Since I've been on these boards, it always crops up about the two "types" of kreen: the ones with huge abdomens and the ones without (that look more like humans with four arms). Here's a quick solution: the ones that look more human are Jeral, the ones with the big abdomens are To'ksa. Realize it throws the description from Thri-kreen of Athas, but it does explain the different drawings.

I've never been to concerned with that issue. "A kreen is a kreen is a kreen" in my book.

They play the same regardless what they look like.

Artist inconsistencies. The kreen with no abdomen is from WOTC D&D third edition. The kreen with abdomen is in TSR AD&D second edition. As for my self, I prefer the kreen with abdomen. There no Kreen with no abdomen in my game.

A kreen is a kreen afterall. :D

Agreed. I personally dislike the lok of the Kreen without Abdomens - as they just don't look right for an insectoid species.

Or, if you look at page 4 or so of the Wanderer's Journal, a 2e creation. The abdomen-enabled kreen were actually drawn by Baxa, and not Brom.

I actually treat it the same way, but it's still an inconsistency that's been there since, literally, the beginning.

It basically comes down to DM preference. If the DM wants his kreen to be pink with poka dots thats his call. When all is said and done, the kreen would play the same way mechanically.

What!? Kreen aren't pink with polka dots!

Ah man, talk about retcon... at least my yellow and green plaid kreen are still kosher...
