With change sweeping the Tablelands, the Warbringer back in his prison, and the remaining Sorcerer Kings taking new directions, I thought I might share how I see events unfolding...

Dregoth comes out of hiding in an attempt to become a god. Although I am not sure how this campaign unfolds, I am sure Raam will feel the brunt of this for years to come.

The new king of Draj suddenly takes upon a quest soon after he discovers two mysterious obsidian orbs (previous owner: Kalid-Ma). His advisors send spies after him to make sure he "keeps out of trouble".

In the Ivory Triangle all is well on the surface, however, within the city of Nibenay chaos breaks loose. An influx of the Veiled Alliance begins to terrorize the templars of Nibenay. Halfling tribes begin to attack the loggers, supply caravans, and patrols outside the city limits.

Urik remains closed off, however, Hamanu seeks to expand his region and begins setting up small military townships/outposts on the borders of his "new land". This is a cause for concern in Tyr, as all attempts to speak w/ Hamanu are left unanswered. No military action is taken at this time.

All out war erupts outside Nibenay. Lalali-Puy, seeing her opportunity prepares to sack her neighboring city. The war is surprisingly short lasted. The final fight between Nibenay and Lalali-Puy ends as quickly as it started, with the Oba standing over her (seemingly) dead rival. The true Nibenay seeks refuge north of the Tablelands, where he seeks to further his metamorphosis.

A legion of Kreen, unlike anything ever seen is spotted south of Tyr. All estimates point to more than 100,000 mantis warriors.

The city of Nibenay is renamed to "New Hope" (or anything less cheesy ) and becomes the first preserver ran city. The newly elected king is, in truth, a defiler in service of the Oba.

Tyr is attacked by the Kreen. Knowing the city will soon fall, Sadira pleads for aid from nearby Urik and Balic.

Nibenay finds the Crimson Savanna.....

Kalid-Ma in guise of the King of Draj returns to his new city. Immediately he executes his advisors and begins recruiting members to a new dark cult.

Troops from Balic come to the aid of Tyr. However they quickly withdraw as rumors of the return of Androponis sweep the tablelands.

Androponis closes off Balic. He executes every half-breed in the city and condemns any non-human or halfling to slavery.

A legion lead by Hamanu arrives at the gates of Tyr. With Sadira, Rikus and Hamanu leading the two legions hope is renewed, but soon fades as shear number of kreen wear down the troops. Soon they begin to move into the streets of Tyr.

All at once every Kreen leaves the city and the surrounding area. Scouts report that they were seen fleeing the Tablelands.

Andy was actually anti-elf, so him driving half-elves and elves (especially if under some influence from Rajaat) would make some sense.

Yeah, my idea was to make it more possession than influence. Not sure how the mechanics would play out though. These are just some ideas, good or bad. Looking for feedback and hopefully others to share how they see the events in the Tablelands unfolding.

I'd add the return of the three space traveling Rhulisti to that list. They would no doubt impact the Tablelands greatly.

Ahh yes the spacelings. I never like the idea of these really, didn't seem to have the Dark Sun feel. Any ideas on these, info, etc? Something to make them feel less like some cheese out of a B rate sci-fi movie and more Athasian.

The March of the Kreen.

While digging in the Kreen home land, they discover an ancient and powerful race of psionic worms whose power is beyond the understanding of psionics today, that organize the Kreen.

The Kreen then march towards the tablelands, devouring all they come across like a giant swarm of locusts.

Ogo is devoured, Urik is devoured and Hammnu slain. Raam is next. Draj, Raam, Nibenay and Gulg join forces and meet at Raam.

The Kreen approach. They greatly out-number the defenders of Raam. As the battle starts, Dregor shows up with his dray. Who will win?

A 10,000 year old 30th level Elemental-King invades the Tyr Region to punish the SKs for what they did to Athas.

Dregor reemerges and takes Raam and Draj. He demands the rest of the cities and SK pay him tribute and worship him as a god. A new religion is started for the worship of Dregor. Guistinial is made a holy city. Slowly, over time, it spreads through-out the Tyr region.

Well, they are from the Blue Age. I don't find it all that absurd that few of the Rhulisti's elders may have put them selves in some sort of statis which involved them being hurdled into space. Could even be that they were sent into space for punishment by the Blue Age halflings (Think Zod from the Superman movies). Interesting stuff ;)

Yeah I like the idea of that. The whole spaceship traveling around in space is what gets me.

The Messenger crashes in the Sea of Silt east of Ur Draxa and vanishes in the depths of a silt trench, which is actually a one-way portal to the Paraelemental Plane of Silt. It is never seen again.

or...

The Messenger crashes in the Crimson Savannah, exterminating a vast kreen army headed for the Tablelands. Kreen survivors feast on the bodies of three odd-looking halflings, eliminating the last of the Rhulisti.

The Messenger's a comet right?

I think a comet killed the dinosaurs...

That's going to be a huge explosion. Especially in the sea of silt.

:D This was how I was going to go, eventually. The kreen, plus assorted zik-chil creations (highly mobile winged scouts, huge assault kreen of low-intelligence, tunnelling engineers, etc.), and to cap that off a Thri-kreen advanced being...

Things begin slowly, scouts appear in the south, the Merchant Houses of Tyr and Balic begin to notice that caravans are going missing, brief psychic images from last stands around the various southern forts. Then all hell breaks loose.

Lots of fun.

How's about this?? with the new Blue Age halflings coming along, with that dang space ship, we could add an entirely new Class to Athas.. have them hook up with some appropriate halflings, and begin training.. and wham, you have a new crafting class, make them like rogues or warriors, or rangers if you wish.. or if that's too much work, you can make them a PrC and have life shaping be a granted ability.. it would make Athas a touch more rare, and grant a unique flavor to certain pc's or npc's

perhaps they would alter some of their decendants, returning them to a pure state?? maybe a rhul thaun template?? :P

Nice! I was considering throwing in a advanced being or a very high level psion. One question, how long do Thri-kreen live in the new rule set? I know they were originally extremely short lived, this was what always kept me from making a Thri-kreen fire elemental or something similiar.

Still up to 30 years if very lucky in the Expanded Psionic Handbook. I was thinking along psion/hive-mind type advanced being (physically and mentally augmented by the zik-chil and an artefact they found).

I see the zik-chil as the physically weakest and oldest lived type of kreen. They specialise in either magic or psionics (sometimes both) and given the new rules are able to life-shape through a prestige class (had began to work these things out years ago for my campaign). They run the empire from the shadows and hunt down various failed attempts at creating kreen advanced beings who escaped their clutches in the past. One (or more) of these failed beings run a resistance to the zik-chil influence and expansionist ideals (allowing some latitude for campaign to run on the Crimson Savannah, and posibly unexpected help for players).

I could see the three Rhulisti waking from their stasis cocoon/prison (the Messenger) and begin travelling the Tyr Region in order to rediscover Athas. Not only was the Messenger the instrument of there suspended animation, but it also housed previously unseen life shaped technology. Each of the three Rhulisti could have different goals in mind after analyzing the current state of Athas.

The first Rhulisti would be interested in gathering all the halflings in order to teach them of their origins and help them become the noble beings they once were.

The second's could be that he wishes to reassert the Rhulisti's right of ruling Athas with himself as the supreme ruler and starts gathering ancient nature bender artifacts to help him in his quest.

The third's could be to just sit back and let things play out and let the people of Athas decide their own fate without their interference.

Just some random ideas. I may try to develop them further.
