I was going to try to convert this adventure into 3.5, and was wondering if the wasterland troll presented in Sandstorm would make a good fix. but i was never actually able to find Dungeon 56 with the adventure so i could translate it; so I was wondering if someone would be able to give me a synopsis of the adventure. And i'll just wing it from there.

That is, if it even is an adventure.... Athas.org isn't really clear on that point....

coo. and thanks. It's actually a fair bit tougher than the wasteland troll of Sandstorm (which has light sensitivity, for some odd reason..), so that'l be a better encounter than i thought.

Does the troll die at the end of the encounter? I may want to use him in some other campaigns...

When I ran this adventure when it first came out for 2E, I had one of the PC's attacks cut off a hand (it had four arms so it did not effect it's attacks); therefore I had the option to bring it back in the future if I chose. It is kind of a DM cheat- but the PC's did not specifically say they were going to hunt down the hand and, being that there are no other trolls in DS, the PC's had never met one and I never told them exactly that it was a troll and therefore, using player knowledge for those metagamers, they could not use their knowledge of the trolls weakness vs. fire.

nice. gotta make sure my players don't do that. I know if i don't say anything, they'll be pulling out acid flasks and alchemist fires....

Was planning on using the troll in part one of my three-part campaign, "the Warbringer." A necrotic flaywind spews out of the Black onto the gourge, leaving the last troll with an army of undead troll skeletons and a bone to pick with the dragon kings....

When I ran that adventure back in my old 2e campaign the PC's surprised me by letting the troll live. They took pity upon the troll due to it being the last of its kind.

Eh, it was a decent adventure for being in Dungeon, but the whole making trolls of Athas, or at least that one, be like every other troll in every other campaign world, minus one or two here and there, bugs me. So I'll probably redesign it and define how trolls really where during the Green Age and how much they changed since that time, etc.
