Tired with the Vistani's meddlesome ways and monopolising grip on the people of Barovia, a cabal of wicked witches and warlocks engaged in a dark ceremony that would be the source of the Vistani's demise. The vile and sadistic rituals would continue for an entire lunar cycle and on the full moon their creation was birthed. Much Vistani blood and tears was spilled throughout this dark time... The superstitious folk of Barovia have long employed the use of scarecrows in order to protect their crops from thieving crows. But during the full moon the duties of these guardian protectors were changed. Now, imbued with the foul magick of the cabal, these scarecrows are given life in the presence of those of Vistani blood. Their existance is soley to slaughter the Vistanti that occupy the territory they are charged with, as these monstrous automatons have proven ruthlessly capable over the past few years. Not even the Barovian farmers are aware of their existance however, as the scarecrows draw sustenance from the flesh of those they slaughter and return to their inanimate state.
