Just a note to everyone that I've finally posted to my site one of the fiction pieces I mentioned I was working on when I posted the "Red Sun" piece here earlier. This story is meant to be a prequel to "When Kritha Met Misha", but also stands on it's own.

As with "When Kritha Met Misha", this one is Dark Sun inspired but not specifically Dark Sun per se (that is, I reference nothing specific trademarked or copyrighted, but the color/flavor is all DS). Subtextually, this story is a hard look at life in the cities of the sorcerer-kings.

Note: while the story is short (only ~2000 words) I have chosen not to post it here as there is some (subtle) mature subject matter contained within it that some folks might be uncomfortable with. Thus, as both a warning to those folks so they can avoid it, and because I don't know if it would violate board rules to post it, I'm only putting a link to the story here.

(FYI, no, "mature subject matter" does not mean there are boobies and/or detailed sexual encounters, or whatever, if that's what you're thinking! Sorry to disappoint :P )

ARG. Due to limitations with Wizard's URL redirection system, I can't link directly to the page. So, the story can be found in the Fiction section, Fantasy subsection of the Writing portion of my site. Now, without further ado, presenting

ENJOY!

PS: this version post-final draft, so not quite yet final, but mostly there. I'd call it final, but I haven't decided if I will put the character names into the story, or leave them out as an aesthetic choice. My editor and I discussed the pros and cons of each. Other than that issue, it's fully edited and finished.

Thanks for the kind words, Cwizzie, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

One question, when you say "keep the names", I am confused (since there are no names to keep right now!). Did you mean "put the names in" or "leave the names out"?

BTW, everyone, I enjoy all sorts of feedback: comments, questions, critiques, whatever you've got, so don't worry about doing so, go right ahead and post it up here.

I read your previous one it seems... The new story is good as well though, and I see where your confusion came from ;).

As for comments: leaving the names out gives more of an 'observer' feel to the situation, while naming the characters creates a more direct connection. However, I do like the feel as it is right now, so I'd keep it.

One of my players plays a defiler, I'm gonna send him the link to read up.

Kudos for the stories, nice work!

May we translate it and put on our DS website?

May we translate it and put on our DS website?

You are very welcome to do so with any of the DS-related fiction I put up, Fabrício! As before, just put my copyright notice on it, and a link to my site and it's all good. And thank you for asking!

BTW: You have a translated copy of "When Kritha Met Misha" up, but I believe that is a translation of the older version. I made some minor changes to the story from when it was translated for the Brazil site, and if you wish to, you may update that translation.

Well, thanks! Don't worry, your name (or the author's one) and the link to your website are both indicated in the file...

well... do you happen to have a control of what you have updated? To translate everything again might be difficult..

or do you have both versions in a word format file *.doc to send me so I could compare them?

I figured as much, so I wasn't really worried. Just double-checking

I agree, translating everything again would be a pain...hence why whether or not you do is completely up to you. Especially given that, unfortunately, I don't have a copy to compare the current against at the moment. I might be able to find one, however. I'll have to look around!
