Hi has anyone got any info on the Keep of the Scarlet cross in immol Barovia?

GAZ I seems to be fairly sparse on this as it does on anything else in Immol..

Many thanks in advance

Sadly, no, I don't think there's any further information on it, Liche. My campaign is currently based in Immol, but I haven't had cause to detail the Keep myself yet. Essentially, it's used to quarter the Immol militia, for training and operation.

And many believe it's haunted. But that's all we've got to go on. From there, our imagination'll have to take over. :P

While there's no official explanation/exposition of the keep, there are a few interesting details about Immol that may suggest a few possbilities for the keep.

The Thaani live in Immol, in constant fear of the unspeakable terrors (re: Illithid) that once dominated their races eons ago. As such, the town practically BEGS for a psionic component to it. As the psionics in 3.5e (as opposed to 2nd edition) have several powers that seem ghostlike, it may not be a bad idea to make the castle (or a part of it?) be somehow involved in some organisation/cult that reveres the ancient creatures n an effort to placate their unknowable wants and desires. (kind of a Cthulhu kurt feel, if you're familiar with the mythos/game).

perhaps they desire power for themselves. or, in an interesting thwist, perhaps thier activities serve to protect the Thaani from the ancient menace. In some way, they may engage in activities which may seem "evil" at first glance, but that they (and possibly the Thaani of the town who know about this) all maintain that the dark rituals alter the Thaani's "scent" or "psychic resonance" so that the agents of the God-Brain/Illithids are unable to pinpoint their location... And if the PCs destroy what the Barovian burgomeister/authorities perceive as a threat to public safety, then untold horros may invade the town, perhaps from some Gate or other access, and begin taking back what "rightfully" belongs to them...

(My players are currently in Immol and writing about the subject has really just helped me figure out what to cook up for them next! lol!)

Hope it helps you as much as it helped me!

It also annoys me when writers say "More on Psionic content in another publication" and the publication may be "Neverware"

I hear that... Not only psionics, thouhg: it sometimes feels that unless you own everything ever published relating to D&D you're bound to miss half the picture.

best of luck with your game!
