Anyone know where I can get one of those nifty, super-detailed, character sheets with the silhouette drawing for exact labeling of gear, but for females? I and my players really like those sheets, but the girls in the group are ****** that all the drawings are of dudes. I don't blame them. So, anyone know where I could find such a thing? I prowled around dragonsfoot, but couldn't find any. Thank you for your time. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 03-03-08 03:57 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? Looks like you're up the creek without a paddle, here. The only RPGs I've ever seen that even worry about such things are Pendragon and Elfquest, and those were just for depicting shields (Pendragon, ladies used a lozenge shield) or drawing the actual PC (Elfquest). They'll either have to learn to draw or look for a female outline online, copy it, then paste it over the male outline and xerox it like crazy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : RealmsRunner Date : 03-04-08 05:24 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? Thanks, Shiftkitty. I have got great help and support from some friends over at Dragonsfoot, and I now have a sheet we're happy with. Here's a question for you: when are these people gonna realize that the ladies play RPGs too? Throughout the years, I have never seen game products that really recognize the female as a player. Well, there is some Dragonlance stuff I can think of, but other than that..... This all started when I suddenly found myself with three more females in our group. We went from one to four, and this immediately made me aware of how male-driven D&D is. Not the stories, the game products. The novels are full of awesome female characters. Anyways, now i'm just ranting. Before I shut up I will mention that the female perspective has really changed our games. There's a whole new element involved now, and all my players can talk about is how cool it is. And not just because there are ladies at the table now..... Thanks for your reply. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 03-05-08 03:27 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? The problem is stereotypes. It's mostly guys that play, so it's mostly guys that will be represented when gender can go either way. It's the same situation that my husband faces at the crafts stores. He makes jewelry, but he can't go into our local Michael's without having to hear women whisper to each other about how he must be gay. (Trust me! He isn't!;) ) The truly frustrating thing is that plenty of men are jewelry-makers, but this sort of thing has kept them out of craft stores. I'm glad you found something to help. I used to draw my characters, but at some point I ran out of time to do anything really decent so I just quit. Now I just describe things verbally, and I must do a good job at it, because a friend of mine who is REALLY good and now makes a living at it once drew a couple of PCs I used in a sci-fi game. They came out exactly as I had pictured them! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : RealmsRunner Date : 03-05-08 10:54 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? You're right on the moeny about stereotypes. It's a shame, really. Sounds like you've got your descriptions down pretty good. I'm known to be pretty good with words too, but I still I wish I could draw..... Thanks for the reply. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Werral Date : 03-13-08 05:35 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? TSR's Marvel Super heroes had great female siliouettes. Or just use some from any art book - use a photocopier or scanner to put them on the character sheet e violà! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 03-13-08 07:53 PM Thread Title : Re: Female Character Sheets? I never saw the Marvel Character sheets, but I remember the illustrations from the Marvel-Phile in Dragon Magazine*. They seemed to favor women with humongous busts. *If anybody from Paizo is reading this, it's why I stopped buying the magazine. They kept increasing the superhero stuff and decreasing the D&D stuff. Even when they allegedly corrected this, it wasn't very many issues before they started in again, increasing other genres at the expense of D&D info. I finally gave up back around 1990 or so. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:22 AM.
