#5 xlorepdarkhelm_dup Jul 09, 2005 15:38:12	Personally, I go with the idea that animals, if they are still around, are Dire & Phrenic versions, at the very least. Anything less, doesn't really do well on Athas.

Ok, there's precidence of exceptions to the general rule. Even though, I always have pictured the Jaguars (and preferred this) as being Dire Jaguars, possibly even with a Phrenic template. But then again, I really like to play up the psionics on the world, and what such a world has done to its inhabitants.

They are only slightly better than their originals, which was my main purpose when I made the template. Like the eagle, but not sure about the wolf. Are there still wolves on Athas? Can't remember.

After my hissy-fit, I realized that I did not have the disk with the original material on it anymore. I could do the stats over again, but the litle bit of fluff text I had written is tha part that I wanted the most. Thanks

There is a great advantage to being small, why do you think the coyote survives in the desert so well, while other land-bsed predators don't. They are small and require very little food. They are good scavengers and can survive off of a very erratic diet. I don't think it is very realistic for all the animals to be made into dire versions. The larger the animal, the more food it requires to survive. Tough sure, but dire no. Dire animals would make more sense in a frozen world.
