#1zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2005 9:19:15 | From a min-maxing position, is there any reason why a sorcerer should not take the White Dragonspawn template? I was just glancing over it, and by taking it the, the only downside i can come up with is a Chaotic Evil alignment. There's a +1 LA, but a Sorcerer doesn't lose anything, because he can still take 19 levels, and end up with the spellcasting abilities of a 20th level sorcerer. He loses +1 to BAB, and +1 to Will, while gaining +7 natural armor, darkvision, a bonus to Dex and Con, a breath weapon(a last minute spell, essentially), and the ability to fly, which is always nice. How is it possible that a white dragonspawn is only +1 LA? By my reckoning, it should be at LEAST +2, possibly +3, unless i'm missing something. Anyone have an input? |

The dragonspawn template was modeled after the 3.0 version of the half-dragon, and when it was written the ECL system wasn't completely established for things like templates. It's possible the template needs a little revision; at the very least, all dragonspawn should have an LA of at least +2 if not +3 (like half-dragons). Half-dragons in 3.5 were standardized rather than improving in power by dragon type, which is not the case for dragonspawn. Perhaps it should be? Cheers, Cam |
