#1BRJNAug 05, 2005 23:27:48 | GAMMA WORLDers will be interested in a new book titled After the Ice Age. This is a description of the North American ice caps melting and how living things spread into the new territory. The author is a Canadian professor. A few inspirations: - "drunken forests" - if a big patch of ice is under a layer of dirt, trees will grow on it. The subsequent melting will cause the trees to lean as the dirt settles crooked. - how fast DO plants (actually seeds) move into new ground? - freezing-cold lakes with glacier along one shore and icebergs floating around - ice melts, water runs off into rivers, rivers flow into ocean, ocean level rises. Beachfront property may become ... soggy. |
