#1lexusAug 06, 2005 18:34:54 | Hope it's alright that I post this here because I had no luck in the classifieds section. Anyway I'm looking for a dark sun game online that is played by post or e-mail. Preferably using 3.5. Anyone know of any? If not start one and you'll definitely will have at least one player. |
#2zombiegleemaxAug 07, 2005 16:29:58 | Make that two players. I'd start one myself, but I'm stuck DMing for a bunch of Dark Sun newbies now and I'd really like to play on Athas |
#3zombiegleemaxAug 07, 2005 16:53:27 | I might be up for running something for a while. I've been thinking of writing up one of my old standard campaigns, Scourge of Souls, into adventure format, and running it once more would be a good test, but it's big. Think 3-4 times Dregoth Ascending - this is a bit of an assumption as I haven't seen the last part yet, of course, but correct if it is approximately the same size as, or somewhat larger than, the first two. I'd make it 32 point buy, 3rd level characters, no starting with magic items (psionic is alright). Suggested medium, anyone? |

#5zombiegleemaxAug 07, 2005 18:45:58 | I think play by post would fit my needs the best, don't know about Lexus. That's fine, but it will have to be somewhere other than here. The system here is that you have to play in a game before you can DM one, and I have *not* played in one here - so we'd have to wait a couple of months at least, in my estimation. Besides this, they don't allow players to be evil in any way - which is somewhat inappropriate for Dark Sun. Find another good message board and I'll be happy to run it there. |
#6lexusAug 07, 2005 22:05:23 | Play by post would be best for me also. As for the boards we could use the ones on yahoo groups? |
#7nytcrawlrAug 07, 2005 22:08:31 | Yeah, I am looking for an online DS game too since I can't find anyone local to run one. Wanting to get a feel for how others are running it, plus I always just wanted to play in DS at least once instead of just running it all the time. Never done play by post before, but I should be able to catch on. I'm up for anything at this point, so count me in. |
#8jesterjeffAug 07, 2005 23:08:32 | Hellfire, i'm in..... I've been DMing for months now and seriously need a chance to rp. is anyone decides to run, let us know.... carnival69@hotmail.com |
#9gilliard_derosanAug 08, 2005 0:37:29 | Hmmm, this sounds kind of cool. Depending on time frame (a post every day, couple times a week, or what not) I might be interested in this. (I probably could not manage an everyday thing, but if it is every other day, or so, I should be fine...) Also, I have a message board that I can set up a section for this.... If you want to check out my message board, PM me and I will give ya the link there.. would rather not just blurt it out here. I have some ramblings there, bits of this and that that would have to be ignored obviously.. And, occasionally it does go down - since it is hosted on a friends private server, occasionally it has problems and goes down till he can physically reset it and stuff, but there ya go. Anyway... let me know more |
#10zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2005 9:24:29 | Gilliard: Check your PM inbox. Anyhow, there is obviously sufficient interest, so I've decided to run it. Feel free to create characters via this site. Make them public and send me the link, and any questions you may have, via PM as soon as you're ready. |

Also, you do realize the site is shutting down soon, right? |
#12zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2005 10:49:32 | I'm assuming straight athas.org rules? Yes, along with the specifics I mentioned earlier in this thread. Also, you do realize the site is shutting down soon, right? No, I did not. I'll change that to THIS site. |
#13gilliard_derosanAug 08, 2005 12:28:14 | Okay, added the message board page to my profile.. so it is not posted out here for all to see, but to get to it, all you need to do is click on my name above, and select the "visit homepage" link and you will be taken to it. The Darksun PBP section is way down at the bottom. You can either ignore everything else there or not, it's just a bunch of different ramblings, I keep tabs on the dark sun game I am running here in Vegas with my group here, and other miscellaneous stuff. Right now the DS PBP section is small, till we get all of the folders set up. Once you register a name there for this play by post game, send me a PM on that board, to the name thatoneguy Once everyone is set up, I shall add you to the group that is allowed to post in the PBP section. Also, send a PM to Aran there, since he is the one running the game. |
#14zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2005 12:34:22 | A couple of more things. -Hit dice. Hit points are calculated using maximum value for 1st level, and upper average for every subsequent level. That is, a d8 progression would go 8, 5, 5, etc. A d12 would go 12, 7, 7, etc. -Dice. I'll have to decide on a dice roller database for us to use. Currently I expect I'll go with Nadaka's Dicebox. If someone has a suggestion in that respect, feel free to make a note of it. |
#15elonarcAug 08, 2005 13:30:42 | I might also be interested (in case Pokémons are allowed). It depends heavily on the estimated time frame for posting. Could you please make a comment concerning this? |
#16zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2005 13:59:16 | I might also be interested (in case Pokémons are allowed). Pokemon players are fine. However, pokemon as characters were successfuly wiped out in the Cleansing Wars to the great gladness of all those living today. :D :P It depends heavily on the estimated time frame for posting. Could you please make a comment concerning this? I assume you mean how often you would need to post? If not, please clarify. Regardless, I would highly appreciate it if everyone could post at least once every 3 days, hopefully more often during combat so we don't get bogged down. If you expect to be absent for a period of time, please notify me in advance. With the player's permission, I would be willing to NPC characters of those who are unavailable to post; otherwise, delegate the task to someone else you can trust. Two people have already submitted character drafts, and three others have expressed interest. I think I'm going to close submissions soon, but even if I do, feel free to inform me if you're interested. People often drop out of this sort of thing. |
#17kalthandrixAug 08, 2005 17:11:01 | I have never played by post before- but I would be willing to try. |
