I am starting this thread not to cause controversy but to create a more clear picture of the political system of Krynn for those people who wish to know either for gaming or for their own curiousity.

I am very curious after Lord of the Rose about the politics of Krynn. With a Krynn that is moving forward scientifically somewhat, the political structure must also be moving forward. I am trying to create a list that I can use and hopefully others can use in gaming. I think that most gamers want more then just the basic knowledge that this city is good or this ones a bad city. I always liked to know when I DM'ed what the government of the town was like so I would know how to deal with the situations when they arise. Is there a judge in the town or are you judged by a group of your peers.

Below is a list of a few areas that I know somewhat but still lack information. I am sure there is some sourcebook out there with all this information in it but for a new player or dm the purchase of that sourcebook may be too much to invest in.

If we are to want Dragonlance to grow then we need to pump as much free information out there as possible. Not protect it like its some precious treasure that no one has access too.

I am writing a 2nd statement with somethings I would like to express. I know that everyone out here doesn't want to have novels spoiled for them I understand that. But as a DM who has read most but not all the novels and sourcebooks I would like the little extra bit of info. I recently posted a question asking who is in the Tower of Istar and received the reply well read Amber and Ashes. Well that reply does not help me in my roleplaying world since I had originally planned to put that into my world as information. Now I am forced to go out and but Amber and Ashes, I have to drive 50 miles to get it then read it and if I don't like it then I am out the 2 and half hour trip plus the three hours of reading time. Just so I can have the answer to one question.

I thought the purpose of the boards was to help players and promote the game not force us to buy extra things that we don't want to seek the info.

I have read several threads and am a little saddened by the lack of help or respect given people with real questions. Right now we need to market the game every oppurtunity we get. No matter if it is a question thats been asked a thousand times or one you hate explaining we need to answer these questions.

Okay, I wouldn't normally bother to get involved in this type of conversation, but I am a bit irked at your statements Gerrin.

I am the person who told you to read Amber and Ashes. I didn't suggest it because I was trying to horde some arcane knowledge, only privy to a select few. I suggested it because it is a good story. I also try not to reveal too much in posts, because I get annoyed when others drop spoilers, especially without warning.

(That is how I actually found out Takhisis was the One God, not by experiencing it through the WoS novels.)

You'll appreciate, I hope, that not everybody wants to have this information posted in an effort to avoid being spoiled. That said, it's usually OK to place spoiler alerts and so forth in a message header and rely on those who are concerned about spoilers to look elsewhere. Amber and Ashes is now in paperback and has been available for almost a year; we can hopefully expect most people to have read it by now if they were going to.

I think folks around here are usually very willing to exchange ideas and share information. I'd be more inclined to do that myself if those who asked the question wouldn't refer to books and materials as "crap", however.

Cheers,
Cam

First off I would like to aplogize I did not mean to use the word crap to describe the gaming materials and novels, sorry Margeret the book is a good one. I should have used stuff instead I didn't mean there were bad I just meant that they were extra things that I do not have direct access too. I live 50 miles from the nearest bookstore and 120 miles from the nearest gaming store. So to me just going out and buying those materials to get the information isn't always useful.

Secondly I stand by my statement that we need to work together to get information out there to those who are trying to start. I was not trying to say that we need to share all the information in every sourcebook but common knowledge should be available to share. If it is not shared soon, I am fearful of what will happened to this community. I just have one question how many new players have started to play this month? How many have you brought into the gaming world of Dragonlance and to this board? And before someone asks me I have brought seven in this last year to Dragonlance. Two of them have their own gaming groups using my DM material. It wasn't easy getting out there and talking and convincing people to play but once they started they loved it.
