Well, I'll be honnest. I havn't been in the DnD universe for long and became interested with the comming of Baldur's gate and Torment, after that. The only books I can find here in hobbyshops are 3rd edition.

Anyway, A player of mine if his wizard could create a mimir. I've been looking around the web for it's original description and stats, though the only thing I can find are a few sentences always in the same line:

'A mimir is a dissembodied, metalic coloured skull, a construct where you can put information in...'

If anyone could give me the info (or point me in the right direction, the previous isn't allowed), I'd be greatfull.

The 2e PS resource A Player's Primer to the Outlands has a few paragraphs on the basics of mimir lore.

Or you could try this site:- http://www.mimir.net/intro.html

Full stats for a mimir (cost and so on) are in Chapter 6 of the Planewalker.com released campaign setting.

Mmm... I was more thinking of construction material and craft DCs... though It'll do. If the market price is 2000gp it shoudn't be too hard to make.

Personally, I would restrict PCs creating mimirs. While there were certainly enough of them available on the Outer Planes, their origins were always mysterious, and the fabrication process unknown (which led to various theories as to possible built-in 'surprises'). The material itself, the silvery metal, was supposed to be unidentifiable. This, at least, was my take...

I think all the secrecy comes with the information they contain. Making an empty mimir sounds reasonable enough to me. Also, a tiefling in the hive selling you an empty mimir sounds very possible :D
