#11bent1Aug 09, 2005 22:13:23 | Hi, I've been a fan of ds for a long time and i want to return to a new campaing. I like much of the work done on ds3 and i believe i will use much of it, but at the same time i will be melding this with the third eddition ds that was posted in dragon and dungeon a year or so ago. I have a question, i'm a some what lazy dm.... i need some food for thought for a new campaing. Can you guys throw me a bone and give me a few ideas or some hook line ands sinkers that i can wrap my mind around. for some reason i'm emty for great ideas right now. Inforation on the part is as follows; there will only be 3 players myself included. we prefer not to use henchmen so in the past we have decided to gestalt characters, nothing crazy but with out it we have a hard time even in survival friendly worlds such as frogotten realms. Also i have to replace much of my ds stuff do to lose over time and some "accidental" theft by ex-friends. Are the downloaded able old books worth it or should i go to ebay and get hardcopies? Thanks everyone and please post anything you got!! |

Fortunately, you've come to the right place. A plethora of ideas abound on these forums. A simple look at the last several pages should be enough to get your brain a-flowin'. Inforation on the part is as follows; there will only be 3 players myself included. we prefer not to use henchmen so in the past we have decided to gestalt characters, nothing crazy but with out it we have a hard time even in survival friendly worlds such as frogotten realms. Having fewer players is a problem I've had to deal with a great many times. Solution - simply lower the EL of any encounters you plan out by 1. If your players still don't survive, well...Athas is supposed to be brutal. Also i have to replace much of my ds stuff do to lose over time and some "accidental" theft by ex-friends. Are the downloaded able old books worth it or should i go to ebay and get hardcopies? rpgnow.com IIRC is the place to go. Now for "Is it worth it?" - well, this pretty much depends on your preference. Price wise, you'd save a bundle going the download route. Otherwise, is it easier for you to find something in a book or on a computer. For me, it's the book (plus I can take a book with me to a friend's house much easier than I can take my computer), but I'm sure the next guy will say the computer's his pick. |

Right now we're in a rule mechanic period, so you might have to dig a little further back to find flavor text. Check out the Dark Sun Forum Archive, an ever-ongoing compilation of fan-made material, for inspiration if you don't like to dig through old threads. |
