Hey guy's, just started looking at the updated rules for DS3.5, and I am very excited. During the days of 2nd Ed, my favorite campaign setting was definitley Dark Sun. I loved everything about it. I loved how you had to fight for survival. It had ton's of role-playing elements. And lots of cool class's and races. However, I have a few concerns about the new rules.

First, it looks like they took away Defilers and Preservers. Which, I guess isn't that big of a deal. But, can you still become a Dragon of Tyr, and an Evangelon(spelling). Also, can Clerics still become an Elemental at later levels. From what I remember, Psionics were much stronger then Arcane in Dark Sun, is that still the case. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, is there any way to get the rules in actual book form with pictures and what not. Thanks again.

There are currently rules in place for becoming a Dragon. Avangion rules are still in the works, and I am not certain about the elementals or not, but Athas.org should have that information there.

I don't know if Psionics are stronger, that is all a matter of opinion. Check out the Expanded Psionics handbook and form your own. Psionics are more common (since arcane magic is outlawed, and punishable by death in some areas)..

As for rules in book form... not 3.5 version. If you want books from the AD&D second edition, you can hunt for them on ebay, maybe some old bookstored might still have a few copies laying around.

DS3 has rules for preservers and defilers, just look at the document some more and you'll find them in Chapter 7: Magic and Psionics.

Also, the rules for advanced beings - dragons, avangions, druid spirits of the land, and cleric elementals - are all epic rules and as you've seen there is no epic material in DS3. You'll have to wait for the epic rules to come out (dragon rules are already out, check out the athas.org website).

Also, is there any way to get the rules in actual book form with pictures and what not. Thanks again.

Print the PDF. It won't ever be made into a book any other way. Athas.org's material is purely Online material.
Pictures will eventually be included in another release of DS3.
