The DragonLance Comic from Devils Due Publishing just fell in my lap and will be available tomorrow 08/17/2005. Be sure to check it out...good stuff! The art by Steve Kurth is fairly good and the adaptation by Dabb of the Weis/Hickman story is also good.

Check it out, I'd love to hear other's opinion on the comic.

For those that want a 5 page preview, click HERE!

It's word for word and scene for scene as if its from the novels themselves. It's basically the novels but with pictures to give a better understanding for those without imagination

The comic book looks good.

I went to pick it up Thursday at one of Mile High Comics's stores, and they were sold out.

Apparently, they didn't order very many copies.

I guess I'm going to have to see whether they'll allow me a subscription (I got out of comics again earlier this year) or something to make sure I get the issues each month.

Well, the storyline is there, and I'm sure the complete comic will be great (I have my copy reserved at the local shop (I didn't even know they were doing a Chonicles comic, thanks for the info). Sure wish they would have finished the Huma comic.

As to the artwork, I saw a couple things I didn't care for...
1. Flint's helm has both horns intact; IIRC one should be missing.
2. Tas looks kind of goofy with that long face.

I'll hold final judgement for when I have it in hand.

Is only the first issue out?

From what I have heard, Huma is supposed to finish. That final issue is supposed to be released. (It has bounced back and forth between not releasing, going to trade paperback containing all 6, and just releasing the final. It should release sometime in the near future if I recall.)

Yes, Treymordin this month was issue 1.

Issue #6 is out in November, the trade is in perpetual hiatus.

Is that going to be the last issue, or is it going to continue? IIRC, #5 only brought us close to 1/2 way through the storyline.

I swear that I have a old graphic novel of of the first book some where. It was published back in the 80's. Does any of the old timers remember that?

Yep, I've got 1 through 4...don't have #5 though. They were pretty bad. Bearded elves, wingless Cyan Bloodbane, chubby Tanis... ;)

#6 is, unfortunately, the last issue of Legend of Huma. That takes you about a third of the way through the book.

Ok, now I'm totally confused.

Like I said on the DLForums, I had just assumed the trade came out, as I never went looking for it.

But the trade wasn't released? And somebody is trying to put out issue #6 as an actual issue?

Ok, nevermind. I saw the posting on dl3e.com (I almost never go to the main site), and I hadn't checked out the updated thread on the Forums yet.

Yup, I've got the same issues; the ever-elusive #5 has been a thorn in my side forever. At one time Brim said he thought he had 2 copies of it, but turns out his mind is quite psychotic at times. I haven't read them all yet, just wanted them for the collection, but the first few pages were so cheesy (as above) I couldn't bring myself to go all the way through.

Is the first issue out of the Dragonlance Chronicles comic book? I wonder if they will be doing a Legends comic?

Right now only the first comic for the DL series is out. Also there is the FR Drow/Dritzz series and the Robert Jordan prequel to Wheel of Time comic. The next DL comic (#2) should be out in a couple of weeks...looking forward to it.

Just a note: the Dragonlance: Chronicles and Forgotten Realms: Homeland minis are created and published by Devil's Due Publishing.

The New Spring (Wheel of Time prequel) comic is from Dabel Brothers, the guys who did Legend of Huma. I have no idea who is publishing this comic though, as DBPro has different titles coming from a few different publishers atm.

New Spring is coming through Red Eagle. I picked it up and it is really good. DBPro has also been putting out a few comics through a new company called Alias, which was founded by a few of their old creators.

This is off topic: but IMO they should make a comic out of religious books. That would be cool. Have someone draw a picture of what the characters supposedly look like according to the descriptions.

Enough with the off-topic religious discussions, already. You've been warned before about this.

Cheers,

Actually, they're making a comic out of the Book of Mormon called The Golden Plates, which are the inspiration for the Disks of Mishakal.

But that's a topic for another forum. Let's get back to Chronicles.
