#1zombiegleemaxAug 23, 2005 4:19:26 | A few more new (and converted) spells, this time for those who worship Magma. The spell levels are noted for Sage's elemental spell lists, not the DS3 domains. Bloodfire Transmutation [Death, Fire] Level: Fire 7, Magma 7, Wiz 8 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels) Target: You or creature touched (see text) Duration: 1 minute/level or instantaneous (see text) Saving Throw: Reflex half or Fortitude partial (see text) Spell Resistance: Yes This spell transmutes living blood into molten rock or liquid flame. When casting this spell, you may choose to cast it either on yourself or on another creature with varying effects. Material Component: An oval cut bloodstone worth at least 100 cp, which is swallowed if the spell is cast on yourself. Eruption Conjuration (Creation) Level: Magma 9 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 full round Range: Long (400ft + 100ft/level) Area: 10 yard radius/level Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: Reflex half (see text) Spell Resistance: Yes This horrific spell causes the ground in the chosen area to crack, fissure, and erupt with torrential geysers of magma. The liquid stone rips from the ground, raining down on everything within the area and setting any flammable materials alight. Creatures unlucky enough to be in the targeted area take 3d10 damage each round (Reflex save to take half damage). Furthermore, even if a creature damaged by the eruption moves out of the spell’s area, its continues to take 3d6 damage each round for the duration of the spell (Fortitude save each round for half damage). Material Component: A perfectly worked obsidian sphere of at least 500 cp value Magma Jet Conjuration (Creation) Level: Magma 3 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels) Target: One target Duration: 1 round + 1 round/3 levels Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes With this spell, you call forth a burning stream of lava and fling it at your foe. You must make a successful ranged touch attack to hit the target, and the magma does 3d6 fire damage. For every three caster levels you have (maximum 18th level), the magma persists for an additional round, sticking to the target and doing an additional 1d6 fire damage. Any flammable materials on a target of this spell are set aflame. Molten Grasp Transmutation Level: Magma 1 Components: V Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Creature or object touched (up to one per four levels) Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes With a word, you transform your hand into a thing of pure molten rock. Although you and your possessions are unharmed, you can make a touch attack to inflict 2d6 fire damage. You can use this touch attack up to one time per four caster levels (minimum once). Any flammable materials on a target of this spell may be set alight at the DM’s discretion. |

#3ruhl-than_sageAug 23, 2005 16:54:04 | Bloodfire the creature instead takes 3d4 Consitution damage and is helpless will he writhes in agony for the next 1d4 rounds. Material Component: A gold coin (100cp value) How about a Bloodstone worth 100cp instead? It seems more appropriate than a gold coin. Magma Jet Beautiful |
#4kalthandrixAug 24, 2005 7:32:57 | Very nice spells- as long as you are not subject to them. I have tow suggestions I would like to see the material component for Bloodfire changed to something like Sage suggested- maybe the bloodstone or some type of obsidian or lava rock. And if the effect is going to be personal I would also require that the material component be swallowed- just for the flavor nothing to do with the mechanics of the spell. For Burning Touch- I am not a fan of the name- too much like burning hands. I would suggest something like Molten Grasp or Touch, or even Hand of Lava- just something to make it some that the name sounds more original and inline with the spell effect. |

#6zombiegleemaxAug 24, 2005 11:58:42 | Very nice spells- as long as you are not subject to them. Done and done I was originally going to make the material component for Bloodfire an oval cut obsidian, but I decided to go with gold instead (obsidian's a bit overdone). Like the bloodstone though, and love the Molten Grasp name Thanks guys :D |
