#1eagleyeSep 06, 2005 2:23:08 | The BBEG in my upcomming campaign will be a Vampire Cleric, who became "infected" by Kas. My question is now > what are the most appropriate diety for this cleric, and if that diety is not listed in the PHB, where can I find more info about her? |
#2zombiegleemaxSep 06, 2005 11:14:05 | Well, Nerull comes to mind, of course. Not knowing anything about the character's personality, you have to fall back on the patron of death and the undead as a default. Orcus is another possibility for the same reason. However, the character's personality should be the real deciding factor. I gather from you post what he is, but not who he is. Does he differ from a "standard" chaotic evil D&D vampire in any dramatic way? |

Alternatively, Libris Mortis has a few dieties for undead inlcuding the aforementioned nerull and orcus. If undead play a significant part in your campaign, you might want to grab a copy of this book. It also presents a Vampire Spawn monster class as well as a Master Vampire PrC. |
#4OleOneEyeSep 06, 2005 21:49:40 | If you want him rather conflicted, make the vampire cleric a follower of Vecna. |
#5eagleyeSep 07, 2005 2:34:17 | OleOneEye > I've been thinking about that too, but a Vampire of Kas worshipping Vecna doesn't seem like that most believable character I've ever created ;) Thanks all for the help! |

#7darth_azalinSep 17, 2005 4:18:33 | OleOneEye > I've been thinking about that too, but a Vampire of Kas worshipping Vecna doesn't seem like that most believable character I've ever created ;) Boy Im a little out of my Greyhawk Lore... But when did Kas get out of the sword? And if he did get out of the sword.. How did he escape Ravenloft? |
#8MortepierreSep 17, 2005 4:31:44 | The sword? Kas was never absorbed by his sword. It was named after him, not because he had taken refuge within. As for what happened to him in RL, it's safe to assume the Dark Powers didn't destroy him just because Vecna had escaped. A patriarch-level vampire isn't something you encounter every day. So, they probably either released him or kept him in RL but took away his Dark Lord status. In my campaign, they kept him in RL to try to goad Vecna into coming back "to the fold" (so to speak) |
#9darth_azalinSep 17, 2005 8:59:15 | Ok new questions In Vecna Lives! module Basically Kas is a Vampire (17th lvl fighter) but has a positive over most vampires... He doesn't need to retreat in a coffin since he never died or was buried so he doesn't need to retreat in one. And I haven't read what happens in Vecna Reborn but I do have it Ok with him being a Vampire what makes him a deity lvl to give out spells? Is it in V. Reborn where Vecna gets out? If so I have to read it much sooner, since my "hero" Azalin but learn how too also.. |
#10MortepierreSep 17, 2005 11:56:49 | Ok with him being a Vampire what makes him a deity lvl to give out spells? Uh? Since when does Kas have clerics? He never granted spells to anyone. At least not that I know of If this is related to eagleye's first query, please note that he was talking about a cleric infected by Kas, not a cleric of Kas. |
#11ripvanwormerSep 17, 2005 13:21:13 | Ok with him being a Vampire what makes him a deity lvl to give out spells? Kas is not a deity, and cannot grant spells. Is it in V. Reborn where Vecna gets out? Vecna escapes Ravenloft in Die, Vecna, Die! It is very unlikely that Azalin could use the same path, however. |
#12darth_azalinSep 19, 2005 4:54:22 | Great another module too hunt down... I just remembered the title of this post and just went with that sorry And with Azalin has something changed in his storyline after he took his son's body? |
#13quirriffSep 24, 2005 23:24:32 | How about a Cleric that gets his power from an unknown source. But say has the unholy symbol of Kas's Sword. |
